Swarmers are everywhere, and for some crazy reason, they are hurting. One set nearly knocks out half my shields. It's crazy, really, how before I feared the forge gun. Now I fear the swarms. Hardly enjoyable, plus all I see are the new sockets.
What is up with the tank hating CCP. Just curious as to how badly you will break us in your "fix". Doing a poor job fixing anything for vehicles.
I know, cry cry cry, gotta vent somewhere.
PS. Only lost 3 tanks tonight, but was rendered useless in all but one of my matches. *long sigh* |

All I have seen are proto swarmers with damage mods. I used to shrug that stuff off, but now when I squad up, me and my armor buddy get owned. Which btw he can handle far better.

Hah ok buddy. A lot of tankers I know are upset with the swarms. Notice I'm not so upset about the new Sockets (which are ever map I've played since patch day. wtf is up with that) but Swarms. |

Ahh yeah, I run a speed booster instead of a 3rd ward. Speed booster got a huge buff with 1.4 btw.
Even with that 40% though, I don't see it making a huge difference when faced with proto swarms w/damage mods.
And don't be dissin my speed boost, that thing has saved my ass far more than the extra 7% I get from a 3rd ward/ hardener.
You guys must not have seen the swarms I have!

I know I can still eat swarms but every now and again I get these swarms that just tear through my shield like paper. Not to mention they can have 3 volleys in the air at a time now! |

You guys must not have seen the swarms I have! nah dude i love the booster i use it myself. i could recommend better fit for using a speed booster on thou. such as assuming this is a blaster tank 1 light azo 1 heavy con 1 fusion 2 wards 2 damage mods 1 large scat nuetron blaster 2 small missie this is a hit and run tank. :D
Interesting fit, though the mitigation seems low. I can hit and run with my setup and still maintain decent mitigation.
Heavy azo heavy convo Fusion 2 wards
Pg boosters x2
2 small missile
Large Scat blaster( advanced or standard)
I could never ever break down and use a light extender.
Drop the damage mods, you won't be killing any maddies, and infantry pop in a few well aimed shots with the advanced scattered.
I swear man, you havent been hit by the swarms I have. These things are insane. I'm not saying every swarm out there is a problem, just the protos with heavy damage mods.
Like I said, it's not every match this happens (tonight was for me though) but some of them swarmers out there got a hellva swarm setup going. |

Lol, you seem to misunderstand, the extra mitigation isn't there to keep me in the fight. I use it to get me out of the fight.
If I didn't have that extra hp, with the heavy heal, I would have been toast against some of these swarmers. And it wasn't just one swarmer I was facing, but several.
Still I can only handle about 3 volleys, then my shields are nearly toast.

I'm curious as to how you fit your High mitigation shield tank? I'm not trying to be a douche here fella, but my squad mates are all very high SP chars, so often times I think we are against some of the best. Solo I never lose a tank (7mil into nothing but shield tanks) though I never face these swarms until I squad up!
I'm just curious as to how your shield tank holds up to the proto swarms damage modded out?? The setup you gave me would have dropped in 2 volleys. I'm all for trying different fits, and you got me very curious(as in I'm going to make that fit you gave me) but I just don't see it.
My fits are solid. Pre 1.4 I ate proto wycomi, whatever, swarms like candy. Now I face some that are just far too powerful to withstand. 3 tanks is nothing to lose, 2 were missiles fits with the best mitigation possible, and one a proto blaster with weaker mitigation(slightly) but a much higher dmg output. Rarely lose a blaster simply because I can actually take out my aggressors in a timely manner. Plus I use my speed to a huge advantage for getting to cover. I'll admit though, the new sockets have me crashing into stuff now, very unfamiliar territory.

Hah, I did eat a lot of swarms with reps! Good point there actually. Though the real number would be closer to 5 or 6 with reps if I didn't get to cover. Then I poke my head out and get shot some more, and go back to cover. Keeping a tank pushed back is enough, don't even have to destroy it.

Tankers are always upset if something kills them. Tankers want to go around in invencible tankswith nothing to counter them. Let me tell you something: this is the first game a tank can take 4-8 AV MISSILES straight to the face and live, and you still want more.In games like BF3 or MAG, 1-2 AV misseles is all that it took to drop a tank,and guess what, they still went 30+kills a game, the good tankers that is. Its not surprising.And they are always whining about what kills them.Las build was the Forge guns. Hit detection got fixed so now the next thing on line is Swarms. If swarms get nerfed,you will start whining about AV's..Its always like that. Swarms had a speed buff , yeah, but the fact they removed 1 shot per clip means that after a 3 swarm volley,we have to reload, and guess what, by the time we have reloaded you are alreaddy behind cover.If you know what you are doing that is....

I really don't care about the tanks I lost. You seem to grossly misunderstand. I understand well enough that I shouldn't be invincible.

It's not surpising Yeah bud, thats a lot of money to lose, 4 games worth for ONE tank. Your suits don't even compare to the price. And apparently you missed the part about 3 tanks being nothing to lose, I've gone a month and lost maybe 10 tanks.
Yeah swarms got a speed bump and only 3 volleys in the air at one time. And yes I'm in cover, but if you are a smart AV, you wait. If I go back to the redline, I stay there. No I don't think one single infantry should keep me pushed back.
I mean if you ever played a tank, you don't render unless I'm 80 meters distance, and what's the range on swarms again? Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, this is me running blasters. Missiles got the range but you don't render but I sure as hell do for you. How is that fair?
Plenty of problems with tanks atm, which is why the next update is targeted for tanks specifically. Or did you miss that and think tanks had no right to complain about their current state in the world of DUST 514 |

I have to see your fits man! well it can't take much but the damage is outstanding. the idea is as soon as u get hit u run and try to lure the swarmer out. while he trs to get his lock you shoot his head off. if you see anymore than 2 av you run for your life and get squad members to kill them. This fit also devastates infantry. My old rail fit was. gunnlogi 1 sup heavy extend 1 light extend ( i forget which one or light rep whichever you prefer) 2 ward amps 1 surge for a good bonus when you stick your head out to shoot enemy tank / or you go head on. 2 damage mods proto compressed rail. this does about 2.8-3 k damage a shot. makes it where armor reps won't turn on in time. as it takes 5 secs to activate Falchion 1 heavy sup 2 wards 1 surge 1 heat sink 3 damage mods proto compressed rail does 3k a shot. easily scares tanks this is from memory. havn't used shield tanks in months. :D
Your fits are pretty identical to mine. I run with armor a lot and feel gimped oftentimes when running with one. I don't run Falchions myself, too expensive and you hardly get anything from it. Plus when I run my blaster against a missile fit Falchion, they tend to die quick like. Missile turrets hardly do any damage to my gunnlogi.
Your rail fit though is spot on, though I use it differently.
2 ward amps 1 supplemental extender 1 light shield boost 1 heatsink
Proto compressed
x2 damage mods
Thats my dps rail, drop the damage mods and strap on some pg booster, and you have you a heavy mitigation rail that can take the damage from a glass cannon and give it right back! Love my mitigation rail, good for getting out of the redline and surviving.
Truth to tell, haven't run a rail in many weeks! |

DO NOT do what scrubs do a lot. The peek into a city, get 3-5 kills, instead of leaving and approaching from another entrance,they just get confident and keep pushing through the same opening, were AVs will throw 3-6 packed ndes at him,and then, the swarm fest. No you wont and SHOULDNT be able to escape that.... @ Op.I see you point, But you say yyou just loose 10 tanks a month. Doesnt seem too UP to be quite honest. I loose 10 suits every 2-4 matches and they all cost 100k +, so i think i loose more money that you do...
I understand what you are saying but it's not the maps. All of my blasters/missiles are hit and run, so I usually can be of use to my team, not to mention I do have points into being a logi so I can make myself useful when my tank is not.
My problem is the one swarmer on his own pushing me back. Damn right I don't lose my tank like you do suits, if I did I wouldn't be able to run them. Plus 2 to 3 games a night on the weekdays is my limit, and a few more on the weekends. Gotta work for a living!
That's one tank a match, nearly 3 mil!
10 tanks a month, that is a terrible number! 10 tanks a week sounds more like it. Sorry man lol.
We will see what they do with tanks in 1.5 to 1.6. Currently, shield tanks are supposed to be hit and run, yet they are nothing of the sort. Though the nitro buff did make a difference, our shield hardeners are still very much lacking.

Ah, bluedots. I really hate them sometimes.
Sometimes they get in my tank and do good. Then they get bored and do nothing. Then on the scoreboard they nearly match me in WP.
Recall my tank, psh, ******* blue dots won't let me.
My tank, my money, and a blue dot can sit there and prevent me from recalling.
What am I supposed to do? Give my million isk tank to a random blue dot to lose?
I swear man, everytime I need to call in my tank, a blue dot is there screwing me with that turret. Then when I don't need to, I don't have a single dot in my tank.
What is up with that???? |

I face palmed so hard I got a migraine... I'll chalk this up to a typo: I believe you meant to say "tanks are not supposed to be useful in all areas of maps, same goes for snipers and scouts." in the case that you did mean exactly what you said, avoiding personal attacks and other verbal abuse for your clearly absurd opinion: all classes and roles need to be profitable and the game is not designed such that people can have a vehicle and an infantry role at the on the same toon. the idea that entire maps would be slanted against tankers or DS pilots is simply not acceptable, having areas protected or unsuitable for a specific role is fine but entire maps? no. imagine it like this for a second, an entire map of flat grass lands with nothing but a few trees and some shrubs where the tankers and DS pilots ran rampant and the explanation was simply "this map is not suitable for assault, logis, and heavys" yet it still came up in the queue and you still had to play it. and every time you did you got your **** pushed in by tankers. would that be fair? would that be okay? no. it wouldn't a balanced map suitable for all playstyles is needed. Why is it I don't see any of the old sockets or map layouts! The new layouts favor infantry considerably, but I don't see any of the old layouts that work to the benefit of tankers.
