Speed tanking does not exist anymore. Your skill with a gun is meaningless now. But hey you got that 'sneaky assasin' playstyle that's now semi legitimate. Congrats.
Disclaimer: scouts are still UP - other suits can compete with what scouts can do, but not vice-versa.
Couldn't tell if serious...either way I'm wondering if 1.4 is going to be the patch that breaks up the scout community.
Wait that sounded a bit dramatic. I mean the posts here are either 'sneaky sneaky gooder! :-) ' or 'move not fast and die bigger :-( '
As someone who picked Gallente to scout and had to pick my kills, 1.4 has been great for me - but I get that Minnie's get bonus to fricking knives - and we all, scouts or not, played a bit of dance dance revolution when we got into combat, and we all know that is not possible now. For me, that got a fair trade with hit detection being fixed - then add being able to scan/hide for greater effect, for me and my squad/team, well overall this was a boon. For Minnie's, I guess they are literally bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Now that 'stealth tanking' has become something scouts can consider, will the communities view of scouts change from 'Hard to hit guys who will likely kill me if they get in range (but if I hit them they' die)' to 'WTF man - just got killed by some AR/SCR scout, I don't even where they are! (but if I find them they'll die)'.
Cause frankly as someone who started playing just before 1.3 hit (that's when female mercs had...that walk?), I was always a little disappointed that everyone talked about scouts using reds and greens, shotguns and knives - it's like profile dampeners and active scanners didn't exist. |

I have felt the same scout pains as everyone else in this community and I have found something that has been working for me. I would honestly like to hear from those who have tried this model, and I thank those for debating. Debate is how we get **** done.
*2 basic reactives on my dinky 'Valor' suit (Triage Hives are a looong way down my skill plan). And I use 'Toxin' AR and SMG.
Im only likely to get first on my Team if we lose - I have to drop links/hack points to get the blues to do anything. Top 3 isn't uncommon, top 6 more likely (it's pleasing when I'm nestled in between proto-squad members when I'm soloing).
I'm using entirely STD and less then 5mil, so I'm personally happy with my performance so far. BPO or not; I always win the ISK war at least...
Before 1.4 I was aiming to fit a complex shield in my high, but now I'm working on getting under ADV scanners (racial bonuses are actually worth training now) then proto scanner/links.
I'd still be hesitant losing any speed - The amount of times I've done a Benny Hill round a bunch of boxes in order to slowly grind down a heavy/hold on till back up arrives....
I do think people will wise up and we'll see more proto-scanners in pubs, reducing the value of the perks I'm taking advantage of (Scouts are the reason I'm aiming for proto scanners...). At that point...I'll adapt again I guess. Invested too much SP in racial to switch to min-logi now. |

Nope. This is essentially why no one really argues against scouts being UP.
Though as Satori says - we do get the best moments. If you've played the new Tomb Raider, my scout is a lot like Lara - yeah im a bit more agile and that, but it comes down to being downright scrappy and ignoring this 'stand and deliver' kind of gameplay which seems to be common. I rarely kill someone by 'accident' - it's because I made sure I was in the right place, at the right time against the right enemy - and then made sure I had a back up plan - and then an escape route!
Also agree with him about the scout losing a little magic when they get some love. Which is why I hope the love comes in the form a of tricks and skills. A lot of the base stats are fine (kinda...) - apart from scan range which is a ******* travesty.
I'd love things like no fall damage/no damp recovery time, some kind of stamina friendly vaulting capability, two equips would be nice - though we should get reduction to equipment grid use rather than general PG/CPU bonuses.
I don't want the scout to get a 'buff'- I want the scout to be more 'scouty' rather than be underweight assaults.
