I understand perfectly what the aim-assist does, i can see it with my own eyes. Is making the Skill Tree useless, simply because you don't need that "SKILLS" if the game is helping you to aim. and you just insulted your own intelligence with your own post. congratulations! I let you figure out by yourself why. Will you develop and learn the Skills to fly a plane, if the auto-pilot does everything for you ?
Auto-Pilot does not "fly a plane for you" much like aim assist does not completely aim for you. Auto-Pilot simply keeps altitude and course. Perhaps you should hop on a plane and press the "Auto-Pilot" button and see how far you actually get. Much like having aim assist on in this game will not get you very far either. |

Everybody needs to hang tight for awhile. Or leave and come back for a test drive in a couple of weeks. But you would provide more useful data and feedback if you stayed, tbh.
There are dev statements to the effect that CCP wants DUST to be, to some extent, a strafe shooter.
Right now they're digesting the effect of changes that came in 1.4, and the playerbase is learning and adapting with each passing day. This means that right now the data CCP is collecting is a moving target. It needs time to settle down. And to be fair to fair, there were a lot of core combat changes.
Namely, suit strafe speed changes, hit detection, raw DS3 aiming mechanics without AA, KB/M aiming mechanics, AA, tacnet changes.
All of these things have an effect on their metrics and are not trivial to untangle - a nice fat pile of data dripping with merc blood is required to make sense of changed player behaviour.
A couple of weeks of data-mining tempered with player feedback will get us a more balanced system. This is the heart and core of the game, peeps - it will definitely serve us well to go slow and take small steps here.
We're almost there re core combat mechanics, and once we get this right we prolly won't have to deal with it again for a good long time. |

Is lag of "CONTENT" that is keeping people away from the game, not the game mechanics. Dust 514 is a half finish experiment, that is WHY people is not playing. Where is all the; - EvE conection - MMO Features - Game Modes - Maps - All the Dropsuits and Dropships All that Crap ? You guys are idiots.
I agree 100% that our problem is lack of content. A fully realized suite of game modes, vehicles, suits and skills is the major problem. If we had everything that we need then the level of frustration would drop and our numbers would rise. |

many vets stopped playing long before 1.4. I myself don't play every day, nor do I play more than 4 matches.
AA may have made a few leave, but not as much as that whole Matchmaking fiasco, that happened upon 1.4. It takes a few days of not playing dust for the some of the most addicted to snap out of it, and think "there are better games out there"
If AA was the cause of the those that did leave than I'm pretty sure I won't see em in future FPS games. probably went back to eve or DOTA.
Dota.... what boring crap that is.

Korvin Lomont wrote:I don't think AA is the right answer to "proto bears running around thinking they are good" I always thought thats what matchmaking should be for. Throwing people of even skills together to have some fun but instead matchmaking decides to throw new palyers against vets.
This alone is responsible for so much balancing complains and honestly in a game that is build around a rpg part with skills and tiers of equipment its common that higher SP players with better gear beat freshly created characters. As soon as this is no longer the case whats the point in skilling and using advanced or protogear?
This sounds fabulous. Other stats should be taken into account though, like KDR. Someone might be an older, but more casual player who's not very effective despite their skill tree. But overall, I'd love to see this implemented some sort of formula that equates time played, previous match stats, and skill tree fulfillment (so even if they have the sp but aren't spending it for some reason) |

hgghyujh wrote:aim assist includes bullet magnetism, where near is good enough, from some of the videos i have seen it doubles to triples the effective hit box. so yes this guys is right, kick and dispersion bonuses (IE AR spec and SS) are meaning less except at beyond optimal ranges. Doubles to triples? Bullet magnetism? Did you even watch the videos or did you just jump around and make conclusions? The hit boxes of all suits are larger now.. Completely unrelated to aim assist. Only about 30% or so. I've just watched a few videos and noticed that a certain shield flare bug is still in existence. Some overly jittery people see the shield are and say "bullet magnetism!!!", then I pause the video and ask them how much damage the target took... While pointing at the full health bar...
The glitch where stray, non damaging, bullets trigger the shield animations are being abused by witch hunters as their evidence... |

Love reading these threads and all these no name scrubs are chiming in about how they think they are good. COD 514 has overinflated your own player skill and let the game do the bulk of the work for you. The whole it requires user input is such a lark, it require the most MINIMAL of input to actually get a kill. IF you struggle with aim assist you are garbage, if you cant go 20 kills a game you are garbage, unless its ambush in which case there simply may be a distribution effect going on between all the players.
AA has narrowed the player skill gap to the point of uselessness. Enjoy COD 514, im enjoying better games that actually require REAL player skill. |

I've actually gone back to Quake since it requires skill. Even the games you mentioned as an insult require more skill than aim-bot 514. Aim assist is supposed to adjust your sensitivity when tracking targets, not move your gun for you. This game might as well be turn based. |

Yea Cosgar, pick up KZSF when it drops, devs already stated no AA at all, said not needed with 60fps and the DS4 is extremely responsive for shooting now according to them. If you watch all the vids you can see there isnt any assists and TTK is slightly lower then kz2 but not by much.

Aim assist Is a problem But its not theeeee problem, IT that bullet dispursion needs to be sh*t at malita, and improve as it gose up. its the near zero dispersion even at extream ranges, with absolutly almost perfect hit detection, now pair that with weapons that where balanced to be good with bad hit detectionand you got yourself OP ARs.

Give you a "like" for quake. the game is good. You try harken? it's in beta, but kinda feels like quake at times. ...if it was a mech game.
I've got my shipping papers. and they have November on em. either way.. look to any other future FPS title, and you'll know where I'll be. .......except COD. can't pay me to play that game. |

cause it's no fun when I come in 1st 3-4 times in a row. and my 7 yr old niece in 3rd place 3-4 times in a row. plus tho I know I can mute them, you don't hear the 7 yr olds on the other fps games as much. |
