It seems there are two sides or groups to the Aim-Assist debate and honestly only one makes sense to me and the other does not. On one side you have the newer players saying they like AA because it helps them aim and then you have the older players saying AA is to powerful and stops players from aiming them self. I can totally agree with the vets I go 44/10/0 because of aim assist we are playing games where heavys aren't even a threat because every bullet from my CASR lands on them. The worse part is that these new players who want an I win button over more experienced players keep saying don't care about the vets, just drop them. This to me is out right wrong would you drop a 3 year relationship or a military veteran in real life who has been in service for 10 years over some fresh recruit with an itchy trigger finger? The vets of this game were noobs, have supported the game, and are still here so the fact that a player starting this month thinks vets should be dropped to cater to his terrible aim is outrageous. Vets are the long standing members I have been playing this game for over a year and I have experimented with the aim-assist in 1.4, it tracks way to well I am telling you CCP! Either remove aim-assist, enable it for everyone so everyone gets an advantage, or dial it back so it's not so good.
I was sad to see CEO Pyrex's Youtube video on how bad the aim assist was. He can't even run through a group of enemys and jump over a railing without dying anymore. The tracking is so good a scout going full speed will be shot with every bullet. Sad to see the guy posting unhappier Youtube videos since Uprising considering I love watching his videos.
Even sadder when I am at 346 armor and I jump in the period of my jump a guy lands every single shot on me killing me. This was simply in the time it takes to jump and yet he landed every single bullet on me killing me. Strafing has been completely eliminated which I like and hate now strafing doesn't matter much it's just about bullet damage and having more shield and armor which barely help either. Click point kill move to the next target and hope he doesn't click point and kill you first. |

Yea its been repeatedly talked about and heavily analyzed. These "both sides of the fence" threads has been abundant. He's just tired of reading about em.

I have read them all as well doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Why click on this thread then if you don't like reading post about the AA system? Like I said the system is barely even a week old. It just goes to show how active the community is in actively hating something on the forums. Lol! |

Because my privilege allows me to click on any thread and comment as I wish. I'm not intruding nor am I being destructive.
That common internet rebuttal of "you don't like it don't click on it" is really quite stupid. It sounds catchy but in the end, it makes no sense. |

More common internet rebuttal. No one is upset. Because I say something that goes against how you played it out in your head, doesn't mean I'm upset. Because I say people are tired of reading this, doesn't mean I'm upset either.
Is that how you perceive the world around you? Any difference of thought or opinion, should be taken as the person being hostile or upset towards you? If that's the case, your skin needs to be a little bit more thicker.

Nor am I upset or getting on you but judging and labeling someone is a pretty hostile way of replying to a thread. Your an ass hole is that how you go around in the world being an ass hole? See I can do it to.

I find it funny how you are labeling me. Do you go to a gun club when you don't like guns? Leave this thread if you don't like it hell stay if you want that's your right but I am trying to do one thing here. Have a simple discussion on AA that is all.
Besides only reason I am here is because the game is boring so no I didn't stay I came to the forums. You seem to not be able to move on want me to hold your hand out. |

I don't read a lot of QQ or buff this or nerf that threads, but from what i got it seems like people associate the AA with skill rather then balance. But I don't mean among weapons but among roles and niches in the game.
The AA has helped tremendously with the new player experience as helps them defend themselves against more seasoned vets even giving them confidence when a proto squad is on the field. I think i read a thread where new players said the game was FUN and ENJOYABLE which means CCP managed to conceive life in Dust. This is what I don't want to extinguish.
However on the other hand, new players are flocking to roles like Assault and Logi and dominating the lesser scout and heavy. These niches are the ones that suffer from the AA the most.
Scouts been screwed over slowly since beta but the dedicated few still remain. Scouts are completely unsuitable for combat. They are the only role whose tactic is running away, yet some of the best scouts use there speed, low profile, and cleverness to be a annoyance on the field. With the current AA their speed is useless cause not only can they not take a hit but now everybody's got perfect aim. Running away is now no longer a viable option for the tin foil suit.
Heavies however are suppose to be big brutes with extremely deadly firepower. I remember reading the description for the heavy suit, "The suit itself is considered a weapon" and today i see heavies fall like scouts. Of course in a 1v1 a heavy will win no doubt but i have seen way too many people eat through a heavies hp like acid with a militia AR or snipe them with militia ARs from ranges a HMG can't touch with only a few stray bullets not piercing the heavy. No wonder we see more forge guns then HMGs, a forge at least gives you breathing room from the massacre.
The AA needs to stay and needs to be weakened but still strong enough to help new players against vets. something has to be done to stop the butchering of lesser roles... They important too. Thank you and sorry for the long post. |

And exactly whats wrong IMHO.
AA can't be the answer to give new players a playing ground against vets. This decision devaluates Skillpoints and better gear on the field to a level thats not longer acceptable. Why should we play to gain SP and new skills while a simple gaming mechanic that make new players feel good renders this advantage useless.
To give new players a good experience CCP simply had to alter their matchmaking in a way that new players don't get thrown against vets all the time. Maybe the academy could be a place for new players as well.
But the decision to render protosuits and sp advancement useless is horribly wrong. CCP could as well just remove tiers and SP and the whole RPG part of this game. |
