Skirmish, Domination and ambush are great game modes, but, after its all said and done with advancing to proto and upgrading modules you're left with... well, the same old FPS. Although what i mentioned takes quite some time and with new maps doesn't seem so similar. A few ideas that I and a few other players have considered may be more Dust 514 oriented and may offer new incentives into gameplay.
1. Raid- This game mode involves a different type of "Planetary conquest" battle. In Raid any clone storage facilities would be eligible for this type of attack. This could be a "quick" attack where the number of clones each side begins with would be in the range of 50 to 100. Two teams fight for control of unused clones which are stored inside of some kind of clone storage building. One team defending and the other attacking. the defending team must defend their clone storage facilities until one of three things happen. first- the mission timer runs out, Second-The attacking team does not have enough clones to continue the attack, Third- The defenders have Transferred clones to a "backup facility". The attacking team must attack and raid the facility until one of three things happens. First-mission timer runs out, Second-The defending team has exhausted all usable clones, Third-The attackers have Transferred all clones from the enemy storage facility. The transfer would be a simple control station that can be hacked by either team. Once the hack is complete the transfer begins in preparation mode and ends in departure mode unless interrupted by the opposing team hacking. The Transfer would be in four stages, First- hacking the control station, Second- Clones being prepped for transfer (for attackers the clones are loaded on to automated transports ships/ for defenders clones could be loaded on to automated ground vehicle/s for transport), Third- automated vehicles download route and shipping instructions, Fourth- The facility begins preparing for departure of vehicles. Once the fourth step in the transfer is complete the controlling team has won and owns the selected number of clones.
2. Expansion- This game mode would resemble ambush/ambush oms. Two teams would fight for a selected number of outposts. Each team starting with 80 clones a piece and one outpost already owned by that team. There could be one, three or five strategic outposts unclaimed by either team throughout the battle area. Teams race and fight there way across the battlefield to claim all outpost within the battle area. Once all outposts are are taken by one team the opposite team will have a limited amount of time to reclaim one or more of the outposts. A winner is decided if one of three things happen, first- mission timer runs out, Second- One team has exhausted all available clones, Third- one team owns all available outpost and the reclaiming time has expired.
3.Stranded- This game mode would resemble domination and ambush. Two teams presumable "stranded" on a planet attempting to get a signal out to their respective corporation/alliance or faction. A communications center around the center of the map must be hacked to send a signal out to your war barge instructing them to send more clones. Each team must hack a one relay station and one power station and then hack the communication command and control center. There may be more than one relay or power station but keeping only one Communication Command and Control Center will ensure a close to the battle. The benefit to getting your signal out to your allies is that your teams clones begin to replenish, not at an astonishing rate but enough to offset minor losses. A winner is decided if one of two things happen, First- mission timer runs out, Second-One team has exhausted all available clones.
There are other ideas but many of them run into making battles very one sided. I tried to think of ideas that maintained a balanced battlefield at the beginning of every battle. I hope others have thought about this as I have. I would love to hear any other ideas! |
