Ok I am trying to decide which one to go with. I like the Gallente because of the 1 high 4 lows because I can stack Biotics and if need be power or Pg upgrades, but do not like the bonuses. I like the mini because of the nova knife bonus but dislike the 2 low slots, how are you supposed to stack biotics and fit equipment with such low power? Which one should I go with, I need all the help I can get. |

If the gameplay stays the same, go with Gallente. Your scout will be much more capable of scouty things.
The Minnie is more combat oriented. Which is laughable in the current build. Any nova knifer will tell you how easy it is to die with hit detection fixed and acme-aim turned on. |

Nova Knives do great damage even without the bonus.
Seriously, go Gallente. Our racial bonus is trash, and the slot layout isn't great. |

You forgot to mention that the minmatar is *faster*, too. My main went gallente before I realized this. So I created an alt just for minmatar knife work. but I'm still keeping and progressing my galente scout stuff, because....
the minmatar is just so *ugly* compared to the gallente scout *cough*
Just wish there was a caldari scout.sighhh.

I have and use both scouts :) but I must say I like fallen the much better the bonus with the nova knives doesn't do a whole lot plus with aim assist you get screwed trying to speed tank so the only other 2 options are stealth and health and talented has both covered plus you can fit kinetic catalyzers and cardio regulators. Along with profile dampeners and armor... Or you throw a CPU on and get a proto shield extender... But the whole nova knife bonus appealed to me when uprising came out but when we got a respec I went back to gallente.
Minmatar is speed aggression and get in get out frontline flanker type
Gallente is support recon and stealth type not meant to get into big fights |

They each have their pros and cons but the sad fact at the moment is that the Gallante BPO suit is the best because you will die so damn often that having a BPO suit will save you a fortune. |

K bro it's like this, it depends what your skills are. What suit did you have? What skills have u invested, are you further in armor or shields? Where are you on biotics an electronics?
I was a gallente then I got the optional respec an went minmatar .
Now this is not a speed build, this is now electronics an armor war. Because of this there are two ways to play it, defensive and offensive .
Gallente to me is defensive heres why Your high slot is probably good for a damage mod , I would use a complex damage to make your knives almost as tough as the minmatar, the precision mod even at proto isn't worth it or you could use a shield energizer to give shields an a fast recharge.
To me a sg isn't worth it knives or a smg work better and a dam mod smg hits so hard from behind they stand no chance. Now the low slot options are shield regulators , armor, reps , biotics, range, an profile dampening . Armor an stealth is the way but with biotics to 5 the gallente will stock run around 8mps minmatar 8.36 Which means as a gallente all your health is armor mini is shields, certain mods restrict your health.
Both scouts I believe in this build are built for damage an armor not speed. An your life depends on armor regen not shield .
Look at the mini like a predator an the gallente like a defender , even as a offensive scout it's ment to hide an the mini is a tiger stalking prey. The mods on the gallente dampen it past 15 db to beat the 15 db scanner , an you get range mods to see an complex reactive plates to have armor an built in regen, 2 mods an that's almost as good as having a complex rep without wastin the slot an a cardiac an a basic pd to get you under 28 db to beat all scanners but one, if you have a proto suit an level 4 dampening this build wil work, or you can go all speed or run a basic pd, uplinks or r/e drop the scanner an use 3 range mods.
Now the mini can do the opposite . I dropped my speed for a reactive regen plate, if I use a complex I still run 8.22 without biotics, I use a advanced scanner an a basic pd to get under 28 db cuz I can't get below 15 only gallente scout an most logistics can cuz you need 3 lows.
But the 3 high slots is where it gets different since the range an dampening go in the lows you can't hide as good but you can still get to about 17 db which is ghost, but the 3 highs I now use for precision mods so people can't hide from me, an with the passive range I can see well enough to not use a scanner but I usually do, but it picks up low signatures without getting caught with a scanner in my hand. Then a shield an a damage mod, hit hard an hide.
I got 24/6 in a city with under 240 total health using dam mod on a smg an knives, precision , reactive plate a basic db an a scanner , you can even drop the precision mod for a shield,
Just stay hidden . I realized , the combat scout gets you killed, getting 20 kills from behind make you a friggin pro in this build, knowing they died an never even seen you is not comparable to any other type of kill an will make people fear your name on the screen.
Your survival is your play style change it to that which I described that fits your sp sink so far an you will kill in either suit just don't get seen. The gallente has more stock HP, CPU an pg, an the mini can now afford to run armor an still be fast just use the reactive plate an a basic pd is all you need to get under 28 db as long as you have the 25% from a proto suit an 10% from pasive pd5. But if I was you I would be patient an be so careful as to how you spend points , this build your best bet is knives an a smg to proficiency 3 at minimum then you can use a toxin smg bpo an it will hit like a proto an it's 15/3 on CPU an pg which is less than any other auto weapon an a must for a scout considering our CPU an pg.
But level those weapons an your passives, buy a militia of each suit an test the movements, I can't even enjoy using my dragonfly gallente scout cuz I'm so used to how a my mini suit moves.
I found that jumping an speeding forward doesn't help anymore, your best bet is outing a obstical between you an say a assault if you get caught one on one an use that scanner an you can see his direction for 16 seconds, you with a pd that gets you under 28 he won't pic up even if he scans you an even tho he knows ur there he won't know what your doing an this is why knives an a mini are better to me, because it becomes a chess match an if I scan I can keep obsticals between our line of sight but I can still see him, then I can leave an go the long way or get his back an not give my position away by shooting, scanner at advanced is a must.
I would gladly squad anytime to show you what I've learned.
Good luck hommie! |

Gallente scout.
Only bonus Minmatar really has is a little bit extra in the speed department, and with everyone hitting you with their assault rifles regardless of your speed or agility, that's pretty much a moot point. The only thing it's good for is to have one with kinetic catalyzers as a game starter to be the first one at an objective, then trash it or switch out.
But Gallente has better total base hp, it has better CPU, and it has better PG, meaning you can fit everything you need to survive with an overall better base survivability over the Minmatar scout, whereas the Minmatar scout would have to sacrifice something for a minute boost in speed to reach the same level. |

That's a tough one. Might be easier to answer if we knew your intended playstyle and role. It also be easier to answer if we knew what direction the Devs intend to take with Scouts down the road. If knives hit more consistently in the future, I imagine the Minja will become the preferred assassin build. Its also worth noting that the majority of our humble ranks run Minja.
I can tell you with certainty that speed-tanking a proto GalScout is a thing of the past. Stacking reds won't benefit you in the slightest in today's build... Plan on being mowed down by hipfire up-close and plunked with perfect accuracy from afar (regardless of speed). Always best to remain undetected. Or go medium frame :p.

Gallente Scout is the one that is on the upside right now. Last patch it was Minmatar. It really depends on what you want in the end. If you want to Nova Knife, I highly wouldn't endorse it this patch, then for extra bonus go Minmatar. If you do not plan on doing any Nova Knifing go Gallente. From what I understand there are some good Shotgun fittings packing armor and damps that do well right now. |

My play style is wide open. I have biotics to lvl 3 already. All my base stats at 5 and I have proto sniper rifle and AR, with SMG at lvl 3. I was thinking up close SMG or NovaKnife and from far off a sniper rifle. More of an assassins role also I have Remote Explosives and scanners as well speced into. So I am now at the cross roads of which suit to go with. I have the Dragon Fly BPO and I like the stealth part of the suit. So I am pretty sure I am going Gallente. Just wanted to know what the community thought, and I appreciate all the responses. You have given me more than enough to think on. |

Go gallente. You can armor tank it pretty well and still sprint at 8.3-8.4 with a shotgun. I'll even give you my build :)
Though its already posted somewhere in the scout thread. You can also opt out and go dampener tank.

i prefer min, but i'm not a cqc scout. i use mine to pick off strays, snipers, and the enemy's flanks on the edge of combat in a 'hunter' role. the extra speed helps me circulate the map and highs allow for dmg mod on top of shield buffer which i prefer since it lets me regen quickly while i kite if i bite off more than i can chew. [obv a pub build]
also works well as first-spawn 'runner' fit as someone else said. |

The way I look at 1.4 - Assassins got a nerf and scouting got a buff. So i think it is really more about your personal play style, as it probably has always been - whichever way you look at it scout is still UP. The reduction in TTK is a 'nerf' that hurt scouts the least IMO, but that isn't for good reasons as such.
I've got this personal thing about getting the most out of BPO suits and weapons and only 4.5mil anyway so I can't speak for proto level - but I didn't think I'd forgo training tank/gank for actual sensor skills and adv/proto scanners and uplinks (at least they were all further away in my skill plan) but now it is totally worth it. Gallente is the only suit that can get more than 15m radar without mods - and that means something now I guess.
All I know is, I'm consistently getting a positive kdr and enough WP to place top 6 when soloing (used to be mutually exclusive) - especially if we are being redlined (though it seems you get redlined as often as you get cloned out now) - since few are willing to break from a blob to plant uplinks and hack points.
I haven't even trained my AR or SMG past 1 Ops (inb4 cries for nerf).
When they introduce WP for scans...well that'll be awesome.
I will say this - my greatest enemy are other scouts (hence wanting proto scanners) - most tend to be minjas. Though I think that is just because minmatar scouts were once the ****. They can both fill a scout or assassin role, but unless you need the speed and love cutting people up, going mini isn't such a clear cut choice now it seems.
Either way - I'd just wait for the Caldari/Amarr Scouts, then decide |
