First of all this is not an actual request, so please do not move to feedback requests. I'm posting this here simply to see if there would be any support/discussion on the subject.
Heavies.
Heavies currently have 1 suit (as you know). Considering this fact, and the fact of not having any earthly idea on when we will see more, the Heavy community is starved. All players know how to easily counter the Amarr Basic Frame/Sentinel, no matter how it is fit. It has simply been the same for too long, with no variation.
If you are not intending to add the other racial heavy suits on the next update, would you consider hotfixing the Amarr Heavy Dropsuits?
My idea here is simple. Heavies need more fitting options.
You could temporarily adjust the slots on the Amarr Heavies to 5H/5L, but keep all CPU/PG values as they are.
This will give Heavies more leeway in how we fit our Dropsuits, but the CPU/PG would only allow us to fit a certain number of modules. In other words, we would never be able to fill all 5H and 5L slots. This would allow the current Heavies to be much more enjoyable, and effective in battle. |

every single build will resort to fitting as many basic plates as possable for sheer HP buffer.
if you build it, the players will abuse it.
different suit builds like the old type A type B setup would be a more balanced aproch to this, but this was already covered in the placeholder model discussion and the devs decided they diddnt want to do it.
as much as i believe a solution is needed, it seems like were not getting one.
You're right, 5H/5L would be overpowered.
Edited OP. |

as much as i believe a solution is needed, it seems like were not getting one. You're right, 5H/5L would be overpowered for all suits, but not prototype. Edited OP. im not overly familiar with heavys, since i hate amarr but they get more and more OP with every low slot you give them. even shield heavys will stuff their low slots to the brim with basic plates. unfortunatly i dont see a way to implement this in a way that wont be just a generalised HP buff to all heavys across the board. complex extenders are hard to fit so they work in this scheme, more highs doesnt mean more extenders... it just wouldnt fit. but i dont know a heavy who wouldnt find a way to squeese 10cpu and 1 pg to fit another basic plate on the thing untill all heavys have 5 of the damn things and 2 complex extenders lets not forget about CPU and PG mods in those extra lows as well. put 1 cpu and 1 PG mod in two of those lows and suddenly heavys have CRAPTONS of extra CPU and PG to go around resulting in 5x complex extender 1cpu 1pg 3 of the biggest plates you can fit i like the idea though, im hoping you can think of a way to modify the original scheme to compensate.
This would only be capable on the prototype suit. Even then, I don't think you would be able to fit the 5 complex extenders and still have enough CPU/PG to fit your weapons. If so, that is close to all you could fit even with the CPU/PG upgrades.
The reason is because the CPU is somewhat lacking on the Amarr Heavy Frames. They just weren't designed for CPU intensive fittings. The were designed for PG intensive fittings. You would probably be forced to use the CPU upgrades in order to "convert" it into a CPU intensive suit.
Working:
Amarr Heavy Proto with 1 comp. CPU/PG Upgrade: 340CPU 68PG
5 Comp Extenders 270CPU 55PG
that leaves 70CPU 13PG
So you would have to use another set of comp. CPU/PG Upgrades to fit your weapons/grenades and maybe a regulator.
This is exactly the type of thing I had in mind!

there is a worry that 5x damage mods may be a little bit much but seeing as the stacking penalties would remove 99% of the benifits and it would have to use most if not all of the lows for other stuff i think that ones good. plug in 4x extenders and 5x basic plates with an ADV HMG.... i think it may just fit but im not sure i dont think theres a way to be sure it cant be abused... someone will always find a way on something like this hell thats one of the reasons the cal-logi was so damn OP to begin with just because of the massive health buffer it could achieve over other suits. on a heavy its not too much of a problem though as long as its reasonable. im liking this more and more. Exactly! A Heavy should be able to achieve a massive HP buffer. Actually we can now, it's just that our HP buffer is so predictable. |

I love this class but the truth of the matter is in this game is all these people cry about heavies and then were nerfed becausethe majority apparently rules here not skill or commen since. We are suppose to be mobile tanks with a real hmg range and damage. But to many lil spoiled punks in dust and in CCP agree that AR'S should dominate with outrageous damage and range because the majority cried thier lil hearts out about a mini gun tearing there ass up. Because they couldn't play with tactics and just thought they could run in on a heavy mini gun. The heavy either needs to have are range match that of the AR or just ******* get rid of the class all together and refund my sp. I'm tired of being a mobile hit box for everyone . Before anyone hear cries which I know there going to do anyway. IT'S A DAMN MINI GUN . MINI GUNS ARE MID TO LONG RANGE WEAPONS PERIOD. NOT NO DAMN CQC weapon. True and by no means am I agreeing with them, but apart from being slower what are the drawbacks?? Slowest Largest Hitbox Largest Scan Profile Range of anti-infantry weapon. Fitting Predictability (currently what I'm trying to alleviate) |

Lucifalic wrote:Haha so while I agree the heavy needs something and the mini gun should have more range then the ar at the price of accuracy, ratial suits badly needed. I can not agree to 5/5 slots. I'm a scout and a proto has 5 slots TOTAL.
Ratial suits asap (for light suits too) Big buff to hmg range - accuracy Introduce small arms fire resistance to base armor (not armor plates) New heavy only weapons
That would be a good start imho
Read it more closely.
We would still be limited by the CPU/PG we currently have. So unless we fit all basic modules with advanced/standard weapons, we would never be able to fill all of those slots.
Also, something is wrong when a Heavy suit has as many slots as a Light suit. The current Proto Heavy Basic has 2H/3L. The Sentinel has 1H/4L.
I agree we need the other Racial Suits, but when are those coming? I sure don't know! In the mean time us Heavies need something to allow for some more flexibility in our fittings! |

Lucifalic wrote:Oh I read what your saying. 5/5 is too much. Add a couple to it sure but not max. And as a scout that would make you more deadly to us and believe or not even though everyone is saying scouts are OP it's not true. What is does mean is, as you can see in my response, I recognize the serious downfalls of heavies. Medium ar rule the day in 1.4.
Ok compromise to 4/4 for the Prototype, but thats as low as I can go, and still have the goal accomplished. |
