But being serious, I heard CCP was considering allowing the Nova Knife to charge while you are running, that would help it. Using the NK as it is now seems almost impossible and I deeply admire any knifers out there. Never gonna forget one match in which a Minja went 16-0 using only his knife and finished in 1st for his team.
He jumped from the sky right in the middle of the blueberries, killed me and then more 3 while everybody panicked. Then he walked away like was nothing. moved so fast that looked glitched and had so little HP that I couldn't help but wonder how the hell he didn't die a single time that match. 1.3 build, that was.
I hope it gets buffed so I can see more awesomeness like that in the field. And I hope we have a Katana for a Light weapon or a Longsword for a heavy blade one of these days. Just imagine an Minmatar Heavy running towards you using a rusty longsword!
... And then getting shot to the ground with lasers. |

I have been using the knives on a dedicated alt lately and they do work pretty well against enemies when they're stationary, but this is pretty much limited to snipers and clueless players. I'm finding attacking moving targets a complete lottery. 75% of the time they take no damage, even though I hear the hit sound and their shields flash.
I've found it completely impossible to kill assault rifle players who are walking backwards thanks to a mixture of shoddy hit detection, and the brand new auto aim that everyone loves (My alt only has 150 shields atm, advanced Mini scout).
Another serious issue when using a Nova scout is that turning is still incredible slow. Even at 100% sensitivity it takes 2 seconds to turn a full 360 degrees. This is made worse by the incredibly narrow field of view, making it extremely easy to lose a target if they take 1 step to the side just before I get into attack range. I honestly think the FOV should be increased whilst using Nova Knives. |

Also had a lovely time on the catwalks of the bridge.... four red dots bottle necked when i popped around the corner. two dropped from the first charge, third dot backed into the fourth, gave me the chance to quick swipe, but had to retreat from the fourth... they could still back up. The addition of a lunge of a charged strike would help... or an decrease in back-pedal speed. |

The answer is you don't and because of lolMagic Aiming you now die at least 50% faster. Looking forward it does appear we have some support on getting a "Lunge" mechanic added for the NK's.

I have been running nova knives since closed beta and all I have to say is any new knifers are spoiled rotten... If I was lucky I could take down a really weak assault with proto knives. But back in open you could sprint with them >_> really you did a Merle started charging the knives mid melee and could sprint walk crouch jump so long as you didn't let go of the charge button you could even attack while sprinting. Those days have passed though >_>
But I normally sprint in a zig zag if they are backing up got to them then jump diagonally behind them swing around while jumping and charge knife in midair then you should have a nice side shot. |

Tosay I squaded with a Minja today. He went like 12-5 and I went 9-9 when we squaded up.. I was a dragonfly scout with a TT-3 Assault Scrambler Pistol and Advanced Nova Knives. The scout made me shoot better with the Scrambler, and Knifing was so fun with my friend next to me told me to stop using OP knives xD But to answer your question, get at least advanced knives, run at your opponent, jump in the air, charge, then swoop in for the kill. |

Melee lacks that oumph that the shotgun or sniper had, and I feel that it would be nice for it to both be more usable and feel more powerful. |
