There are two snipers on a hill - I try firing on one, and I just don't get anywhere - but his buddy just a few meters to the left, I hit him (I don't kill him, but doesn't matter). I even end up switching position dramatically, several hundred meters away - and I again can hit the guy on the left, but the guy on the right I get a red dot, but the shots don't hit. I even wiggle my aim around, try and make it a wee bit higher - still no go.
What's up with these guys? Have they got skill 5 and just shuffle up the hill and down (out of LOS) until they get a target then shuffle up and fire?
On the second one I pulled back behind a bulkhead and...could hear the little plinks of their rounds. Presumably he could still see my chevron but couldn't tell he couldn't hit me (which is fine - I was distracting the enemy sniper away from my team, atleast)
Any tips? |

Some maps i counter snipe, I am not a full-time sniper so some may have better answers. Run into this a few times, and often it is a terrain/render glitch. What I have found to work most times when sinking shots into nothing (especially when over 400 m) is to line my shot with the top of the target, until it starts flashing between red?on target and blue/off target. Pull trigger, cowbell, +50, move position. hope this helps |

Interesting, Llast. I'll give that a try, if I can manage it (the guy seemed to swoop in on my position fairly fast (he had an elevated position, which kind of forced me into more traditional/known sniping spots instead of just being tucked away in some random location) |

If it was a glitch and they knew it but still think of themselves as pro, their a professional hypocrite. |

I'm a sniper. There are certain maps where you can use the terrain as very good cover when being fired on from certain directions. A lot of the hills have dips and rises, and what you find is that people who sit on the top of a rise are dead, and the people who shelter in the dips lead a happy, shooty life. After a while you get used to where other folk will try and snipe you from and use this to find spots that provide the most cover for you, while leaving a reasonable window of space for you to shoot into. |

That really doesn't make any sense in itself - if his bullets can hit me, then I aught to be able to use the same vector to hit him.
Raiff, it's the one with a rocket refueling in the middle. E objective has this long ladder near it that you can get up onto some scaffolding that stretches over A objective. The hill was past D objective - behind the redline. |

How far away were you? Sometimes when you are at really long ranges and it gets easier to see chevrons then actual bodies, you can be off by a pixel or two. I have even had to aim where the chevron was visibly off centered in order to hit before. |

So you were on the Ashland map? Can you identify the map coordinates of your location and the other sniperGÇÖs location?

My first position was at the bottom right corner of G5, at the top of the ladder there. I think they were on G11, bottom left corner. But sometimes it's hard to get perspective - they may have been G12.
My second spot was D7, the top left fuel container thing. I was on top and could see them from there and hit the guy on the left, but not the guy on the right. But the guy on the right could hit me! |

This.
If that still won't work, switching to a Militia Heavy/Forge Gun and using the splash damage may get them out from behind whatever little piece of terrain you're not seeing. |
