Dust 514 has changed gears, the game was a tracking based strafe and shoot type. It is now a tactical game.
The playing field of who was "pro" has now changed. Everyone can aim, you have to do more now to stand out.
The game has become harder for the lone wolf. Some peoples play style did rely on strafing off in the distance lulzing while redberries missed most of their shots. That has, for the most part been eliminated from the game. You guys have to find new play styles.
You know why PC turned into the stomp fest it is? Not enough good players, not many people could aim. In this game I dare say their are about 300 pro players. You could tell just from the history of corps. Most relevant corps have been a recycling of a group of those 300 players moving around. Reforming their banner under a new corp name. Why isn't their a random corp of good players that just arise from no where and wreck face? Because simply their isn't any new talent. When there is new talent, they simply apply to one of the top corps because they can't stand getting wrecked with their indie small corp.
Now aim assist has come, and everyone can aim. It gives them a fighting chance. Rise and adapt. It isn't aiming alone that makes a good player. It was tactics, squad support, and suit crafting.
I know we want to think, screw aim assist. If you can't aim, quit the game. Or keep going negative, or get good new berry. What if every scrub quit this game? Do you think Dust 514 could limp on by with the 300-400 "Pro" players. The playing field has been leveled. We really do have to adapt, use tactics as an edge now.
That being said, their are things that need to be fixed. Like forge gun splash damage, the breach assault rifle being junk, and the many other balance issues. Give them time, go with the flow for once and stop the QQ.
TLDR: Adapt or die. |

I agree, But as a player who usually is a lone wolf (but a sniper, sorry) I don't find it THAT much different to pre 1.4,
I don't get much chance to sqaud up, and with my temprimental headset, communication isn't always possible, but as a sniper, my game-play has hardly changed (I like looking for new and interesting places to pop people in the head from) and I've started running Logi or Assult on the newer maps while i get a better feel from them, I'm not finding I die any more or less than before.
Aim assist doesn't work around corners or through walls. |

I'm actually willing to recommend this game to people now I think (after the squad drop issue gets fixed)
New players do actually have a chance to get kills. (not because of aim assist, but because of changes to hit recognition). |

Well at first i was all against AA. Bu i must admit the laser rifle is only going to work WITH some kind of aim assist. The fact that AA is up lets me use this weapon pretty effectively at longer ranges (how they are supposed to be used) is something i REALLY wont whine about. While we have AA, i will use the laser rifle....

Hope you like getting picked up by militia injectors, barely restocked by militia nanohives and barely repaired by a militia repper, all BPO on a SEVR suit. It's not worth it to use my good equipment since this is nothing but CoD with a shade of Chrome. This is me adapting. |

Today I created a new alt, but due to the low WP requirement to graduate I only played 1 match in the Academy. I then proceeded to play some Amarr Fac War just cuz I could and I was actually amazed at what some Basic Light dam mods could do to a crummy Militia Assault Rifle. I was getting quite a few kills even against ADV Cal Logis. Even with aim assist completely dumbing down aiming for the enemies ( I turned AA off way back in November, in Closed Beta ) I still manage to scrape in sme kills from lightly damaged enemies.
Aim Assist doesn't make aiming redundant because of how simplistic it is, it just makes it more fun as you now actually require cover and not the ability to move your stick left and right a bunch. I'm actually enjoying DUST a whole lot more now. |

yea turning your back on the entire FPS crowd and your vet players to attract a minority of scrubs who think aim "assist" games are cool is always a good move. have fun when your mic is squealing with the delights of 8-12 year olds calling themselves skilled at dust. |

What is it with every idiot calling twitch style shooting tactical?
COD is not a tactical shooter and this AA and TTK most resembles COD now. Tactical shooters put the impotence on squad based gameplay, news flash almost every shooter game with objectives in that case require good squad based gameplay.
Strafing/tracking shooters have little impact on tactical gameplay if TTK is within a reasonable frame, moreover Teamfire delineates that TTK even faster. So please stop with the bullshit of calling Dust a more tactical shooter.
Socom was a tactical shooter, you could still strafe and bunny hop in Socom.
KZ2 was a tactical scifi shooters, still had strafing mechanics
CS same thing.

Since everyone dies in 0.3 seconds thanks to CCP forgetting to undo any hot fixes to compensate for broken aiming and hit detection since 1.0, I'm not going to risk going in the red for people protecting a crutch.
Chris F2112 wrote:Sounds like the words of a bitter vet who can no longer stay out of cover against 4 enemies. I'm a logi, and not the OP kind either. I'm bright yellow, and the first to get shot by anyone who has half a brain. Since anything skill related has been stripped away in a FPS of all places, you guys can make do with the cheap stuff.
