You would notice that the game "feels" like a console shooter again. I think the acceleration on the sticks has also been adjusted, Or something. Turn off the AA, and you are still not fighting the sticks like before.
Most Of the Knee jerk QQ, is coming from improved hit detection rather than the AA. The DPS of the guns are alot closer to what you would expect if you did the math. We already knew that a militia AR was able to do like ~1200 dmg in a single magazine. In practice it was doing like 200-800. How can you balance numbers on paper when they are not the same as in game?
The AA is not even that strong in this game. It doesn't have any magnetism that puts your cross hair on somebody (BF3, COD, hidden during the ADS animation) it doesn't have Magic magnetic bullets (Halo)
It does have some friction/adhesion when you are on your target, allowing better sensitivity (BF3,COD,Halo, every console shooter) It also has some magnetism while you are tracking (Halo)
The magnetism while tracking is pretty apparent (and needed) while using the Laser rifle. I was shooting one red, While another decided to run in front of him through my beam(silly right?) my beam started tracking him instead of my target, for about 1m, then went back. it was just a little Tug.
This seems to counter the 2 step strafe that KBM users were able to do to dodge bullets as they face tanked you. there is a New dance to learn. And it seems a lot of people are already adapting to it.
You are bad at console shooters, Played them all. Compared it to other games during the week and fired up some old consoles just to see if i could notice any differences in those games. The difference is stark. And adding magnetism to counter KB/m 2step aim instead of disabling the ability to use kb and controller simultaneously shows how incompetent and lazy CCP really is. No it shows CCP is open minded to multiple control inputs, I dont see why a guy who wants to kb/m should be forced to use a controller or vice versa, If you watch the russian video, the aim assist only moves your barrel by a fraction, not enough to track your target across 100s of meters of terrain. I believe CCP did this purposefully to stop texan 2 stepping, which lets be honest is the biggest crutch you can have, if you have to rely on 2 stepping to magically dodge bullets then prehaps your not as good as you think!! (Disclaimer, you is implied as a general term, it does not apply to the person this post is directed at specifically, I do not accept responsibility if you choose to interpret it this way!! I love that CCP is willing to take the heat and swim in an ocean of boiling tryhard vet tears. They've stayed the course and it's paying off. After 5 days of alternating AA/no AA I'm now permanently without it and I don't really miss it that much. It did improve my performance, but not by much, and it certainly does not outweigh the taint of personal dishonor that comes from using it. I want to see kb/m get more love. I want to see adhesion tweaked down by maybe 50%. I want to see matchmaking running like a clock - we prolly need more players for this though. Now that most of our core mechanics are working new peeps will trickle in slowly(and some old peeps will return). And that's it. With these three issues addressed 1.4 is an unqualified success in my books. If CCP can do the same thing with with 1.5 and maybe 1.6, we're ready to start realizing the true potential of this game. People have trickled out... from 10k average users to under 3k... people have left in droves... if they keep this until 1.5 they are gonna loose people that have stuck with them through even worse....for what? self esteem? and worse they where pushed to the point of disliking CCP as a whole from it, and sharing that experience with other gamers.
And we have seen people trickling in, prehaps we need to give DUST some good exposure, when all of the mags are running reveiws on chromo newmplayers are being discouraged by bad press, now is the time to begin flooding the internet with blogs and comment posts about how its changed, if we can BURY the bad exposure, something glorius might just happen!! |

Were not nessecarily talking about new pkayers, there have been plenty of threads about people who have come back to dust, who left, new player figures are also easily skewed by people creating alts and such!! |

@ Bethhy.
Agreed peeps are leaving, and have been for some time. That exodus in the past was primarily driven by two factors: failed core mechanics/matchmaking/tutorial for newish players, and failed core mechanics/lack of content/death of faith for older players.
But with a good chunk of the core mechanics fixed in 1.4 some peeps are coming back. And the retention rate for new players will be measurably higher now that fundamental control issues are not driving them away.
There's still more to fix re the core. and that sucks because you are 100% right about the need for content.
But we're not there yet, the enemies that surround DUST are legion and mighty, and we cannot afford to make strategic or tactical errors.
November 15th is like the weather - there's no content that CCP could release right now that would make any difference at all. 1.5 is only one month away, and 1.6 is only 2. Some content will be included in each of those patches, perhaps not a ton of content, but some. Enough to keep a new player busy for months, certainly.
I feel that taking primary focus off the core now would be the same kind of mistake as deploying your artillery pieces against an entrenched opponent before having the gunners or ammo to make use of them. It's just an open invitation for the enemy to wreck valuable assets unopposed.

What about all the people that honestly don't like this type of **** ? How long is going to take for people to get bore with the game... when you practically doing nothing by yourself ? The strong aimbots is the main reason why i never play competitive Console FPS games online. Well the game doesn't have huge arrows that appear on the HUD saying "flank in this direction to take advantage of enemies' reliance on aim assist', I assume, so its not doing EVERYTHING for you. Really... ?i using the tactics that i have always used.. hit and run, flanking, sneaking, rushing, suppression, and defending, those are the tactics that i use in EVERY FPS ...but the aimbot have make half of that tactics useless.. simply because i refusing to use it. Then you're doing something wrong boy!! My md an I have never been a more effectkve team, and my assists have gone up almost 3 times the amount my kills have, and they have increased a lot as well!! Did you miss the EVERY FPS bit ? or you decided to ignore that bit ? Your the same idiot that thinks that ccp is messing with your hit detection on purpose so most people just ignore everthing that comes out of that gaping maw you call a mouth. |

To counter aim assist I started skilling into weapons that allow me to keep the encounter as short as possible. At first I used the shotty, but later moved on to the Mass Driver and the Sniper Rifle for mid-long range engagements. So far it's working out really well, except for the fact that it is kind of hard to just suppress the enemy and farm assists with these precision-based weapons. |
