I typically play ambush with no squad, and I am wondering how the active scanner works in this regard.
- Does it show scan results to the rest of the players not in a squad? - I assume those in squads wouldn't see the scan results if the above was true.
Reason I ask is because I just got out of a match and I had used (well, spammed, lol) my recently acquired ADV scanner, and it really felt like most of my team could see the scanner results like I could (it was truly a solo match, and it was glorious... both teams had no obvious squad formation judging by their corps). I've personally never seen any active scanner results while not in squad, so this got me wondering.
The other thing that makes me ask this, is because as a no-squad player, I do have the ability to spawn on uplinks pretty much in every match. So if uplinks were only for squads, then not sure why I am being able to spawn on them. Which makes me think that those not in squads, are treated as if they are in a squad. Which might mean that active scanner results are shared, as well as uplinks, to everybody not squadded up.
Any confirmation of this would be appreciated, as it would be nice to see that my active scanner wasn't useless (well, to anybody but myself) if I am not running in a squad.

Wait, even hives?
I was reading a thread earlier that said uplinks only work for squads (it was like this a few builds ago, so it made sense to me), although I see uplinks in every match when I am not squadded (I assume those not in squad are putting them down?).
I have had players spawn on my uplinks while I am not in a squad, so I think this is what is happening.
I always figured nanohives worked for everybody regardless if they are in squad or not, but that would be weird if that wasn't the case.
And active scanners, would be nice to see them work for those who aren't in a squad like me. |

I know that in a previous iteration (might have been early uprising, or late Chromosome, I don't remember right now), equipment that was squad-based treated all "No Squad" players as being in a squad for the purposes of equipment effects.
So far in Uprising 1.4 I'm pretty sure Uplinks are team-access. I've been in a locked 2-player squad with a friend and set Uplinks down, then had "Team Spawn" pop up while I'm busy repping my only squadmate. I've also been in a squad with a Heavy as my only squadmate, and seen enemies being lit up by Active Scanners - which my Equipment-less squadmate certainly couldn't use. |

Interesting. So from what you say, it sounds like there is no squad-limitations on equipment at all, everybody can use uplinks and everybody can see results from active scanners.
Personally I would like to see it a bit different:
- Everybody has access to nanohives - Squads can only spawn on their own uplinks from within the squad - Those not in squad can spawn on uplinks only from others not in squad - Squads can only see what a player in the squad has scanned with an active scanner. - Those not in a squad can only see active scanner results from others not in squad.
If everybody can use everybody's uplinks and see the scanner results, then that means scanners are the ultimate OP equipment by far right now. I mean heck, the ADV version that holds scanned results for 16 seconds and scans at 38 dB. So unless light/medium players actually use a 20% dampener or higher, they will be lit up 100% of the time for the entire team to see. And with the team-tacnet loss, this is HUGE.

Been playing solo for a long time. I only ever see glowy dots if I'm in a squad, or if I'm using my own active scanner.
I personally like the fact that I can use scanners to my advantage, but getting into a random squad with players definitely helps my chances of success as those randoms can see my scan results and help locate/take out uplinks, know where tanks are, and generally not die from surprise attacks.
Edit: Tested this with a buddy of mine. He couldn't see my scan results when we both weren't in a squad. |

That wouldn't make any sense: why block certain uplinks and tactical info from the rest of the team? That would also be a major hindrance for solo or casual players that don't squad up. |

I still experience the lack of tacnet I have seen someone not squaded scan, it dont return results to me, but he then turned a corner cooking a grenade for a camper kill!! I have noticed however some uplinks dont have a spawn option when I do play solo!!
Also while we are on the topic, I think a form comms module should be created!!
The module gives the user of having a physical antenna on their suit, and basically it allows squads to link tacnet info, depending on tier any other comms user within 200/400/600 m radius will get information shared on the squad tacnet as if they were part of that squad, this allows 2 squads with a comms officer to share info over the tacnet 1100m away as if they were a single squad, it would also mean that vechile users wont have to take up a squad space for a squad to benifit (they would need there own variant of course) |

If there is to be differentiation the person laying the equipment should be able to choose the mode of operation.
Provide at least two modes (and a default setting ability): team, my squad. Perhaps other settings like "in any squad" or "not in any squad" could be added.
Why? Some people use this equipment to help the team and there is no real reason to limit the utility. Others, in a squad, need to keep the public from wasting squad resources -- as the squad may have a particular mission or job and need the dedicated capabilities.
Heck, you could even lay some squad only gear and then nearby put in a public uplink to encourage random support (or targets for the enemy) to make things a bit easier. |

I don't usually squad, I have not seen active scan results from anybody outside of a squad. and I have not noticed Blue berrys reacting to my scan results either. (expect for when i use my laser pointer)
If you are seeing red berries pop up on your tac-net while you are outside of a squad, it is because they are getting scanned by a CRU, or Null cannon. (they added that in when they added the stealth spawn in, to reduce CRU camping)
Scanners are to OP, to be team wide. The Spam of those things is out of control. If they made it team wide they might as well just remove them, and add back in the passive shared vision.
drop links im 99.9% sure are team wide, which is as it should be. Im ok if ccp wanted to add in a cheaper version that only has the ability for squad spawning. don't really see the point though, it is a team game after all. |

Nanohives and Drop links are team based, as are Active Scanners,
Enemies scanned by a friendy player appear on the hud and radar and even flash! (so pretty). Only yesterday I had a spawn link down that survived an OB that wiped out half of my team, 3 secs after I got like 8 team spawn rewards XD |
