my version of the heavy aircraft? air- to ground support.
Now i'd hate to reference any others games to bring in a few points but.... battlefield 3 EndGame.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TacHw02WKe0 (watch for the first 4 minutes, it shows what i hope to convey
(Disclaimer: this video is solely for the purpose of giving a view on how a heavy aircraft would exist in dust. the poster acknowledges that this idea may take time to bring to fruition given CCP's ongoing Development into Dust 514 )
the heavy aircraft is designed for 3 man-crew: the pilot and co-pilot. (Reasons: the aircraft is huge, and thus special care must be taken to avoid stalling or even crashing the H.A. as its primary weakness is its slow speed. one pilot should focus on flying the aircraft, while the co-pilot manages the modules needed to maintain the H.A's flight.
The A-A and/or A-G Gunner.
The H.A may specialize in Anti-aircraft weaponry or Air to ground operations. it cannot be both at the same time, or it can be none of them, the logistics version can serve as a mobile supply depot/ to restock and repair friendly aircraft, or a communications replay, strengthening infantry Tac-net comms, essentially becoming "Eyes" for the whole team.
Heavy attack aircraft should turn by a ******* city, not by a dime. this is its greatest weakness, making it vulnerable to all forms of AV weaponry and fighter aircraft, including assault dropships.
but its greatest strength is it's robust health and Countermeasure attachments, should they be implemented. it will take longer to destroy the heavy aircraft but it can only survive if a co-pilot is managing the modules.
WP accrual should be divided by the 3 man crew manning the H.A. this means that a 60+ WP for example becomes 20 to all three crewman. reason behind this is that everyone in the H.A is working together to contribute to the war effort. no one person can take the credit for the contribution.
its all i have for now, but i'll edit the post as time passes or create a different thread for this idea.
thank you for your time, Safe hunting
