I use shotguns but sometimes it's not effective on particular maps.
I;m using the mouse so I have to choose between aiming good with sights and not being able to turn whilst out of them or playing CQC with cross hairs and not being able to use the sights.

DEFINITELY not the Breach AR. It's not bad, but it's a little iffy for true CQC work.
I'd suggest SMG or a standard AR. Either one is good for hipfire - SMG has better spray-and-pray value, but if you can keep your aim on target at close range, the AR is probably better, and has a much wider effective range bracket as well. |

If you're gonna use an AR, use the GEK. With it's higher ROF, bigger clips, and with so many more bullets connecting on targets now a days, it's tough (for me) to justify using the Breach. I used and loved the Breach for most of my time on Dust, but I switched to the GEK pre 1.4 and now it just seems to be the best non Duvolle AR for any situation.
I personally wouldn't consider the AR or the SMG for CQC. I run both and (as an Assault) try to avoid CQC and keep fights at least medium short range, preferably medium.
If ADS is good for the mouse, grab an AR and try some Assault if you haven't checked it out post 1.4. Not sure what all buffs the mouse itself received, but supposedly hit detection is improved, might be worth checking out. |

If you want to have normal speed on ADS it means you will turn twice as slow as a controller player when using cross-hairs. |

The Standard AR has a very tight hip fire spread so as long as you are able to keep it on target you can do alot of damage at CQC this coupled with its ability to be used over medium ranges while aiming down sights makes it a good choice.
Also the scrambler rifle also has a variation that is essentially a anti shield AR. |

That's what i'm saying. If you have to choose either faster ADS or faster hip turning, the AR is the way to go for ADS. I rarely to never use hip fire with the AR, not to say that's the best way to do it, it's just how I do it. If you want something for CQC due to faster hip fire turning, I would avoid the AR and SMG all together. |

Mass Driver is the shotgun of mid distance engagements.

The Assault Scrambler Rifle is a hip-fire god. Pathetically over-powered at the moment, get it while it's hot. |

Edit: Seriously, it's a laser weapon, laser don't exactly disperse very much. It has better hipfire than the AR, but the AR has better ADS and DPS and is easier to fit. |

I use only the standard mass driver (exo-5) and i only use the sights trying to identify snipers on distant mountains and such. |

a while back i would use the breach assault rifle with 2 complex damage mods on my hold the line logi suit. That thing would wipe out pretty much any suit that entered my killzone. And this was even before hit detection was improved. |

The only time I try to use it in CQC is when I'm forced to because I don't have a sidearm. |
