If you haven't noticed, they start with nearly no ISK or SP, and there is no decent tutorial. Instead of whining on the forums which they don't read, take one into your squad, help them set their mic up, give 'em a million ISK, and help them spend their SP wisely. Then play with them all day and show them a good chat channel to meet people in.
Suddenly, they're not a newberry anymore, and have graduated to run of the mill blueberry. A few more months and they can earn the title of meanberry (anyone who makes you want to rage quit).
I do this once a day; I make Dust better- What will you do? |

I don't often +1 Char, but this time I did. The new player experience is dire - have some sympathy and help out. |

I love training people in this game. I do it all the time. The problem begins when these people come on here spouting crap and trolling those who know what they are talking about.
Then there is always the classic day old character talking like he is some god on some other account, even though they wont post on it. If you dont post on your main then you forfeit your ability to assume know how when your trying to prove someone else wrong, unless you actually have a really good point. |

Vets are mad because noobs are learning with the new system of things. It's easier for them to grasp the tactics that will succeed, whereas Vets have to re-learn and essentially throw out the tactics they have developed to stay competitive. It's an idiotic reason to be mad, but a reason none the less. |

It's an idiotic reason to be mad, but a reason none the less. This. So many older players (usually shield tankers) are bitching that they can no longer avoid bullets by dancing back and fourth on the battlefield and expecting to wreak havoc while doing so.
The game requires some tactical approach when approaching enemies (which older armor tanks already know this) instrad of charging head first into an objective.
I find it hilarious, because they are bitching about not being able to do something that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

But oh well, I've been with this game since the servers were only available on the weekends and one thing I do know is that players will always ***** about not getting their specific way.

Very true. We have to help the player base grow if expect Dust to prosper. In the end keeping the game alive is the true motivation for any player base. |

One of my favourite moments in DUST.
Saw obvious new layer getting stomped.
Called in a tank, and shot him in the back a few times with my SMG to get his attention, then shot the tank. He jumped in, then I took one of the turrets. We marauded around for a bit (it's a VERY cheap, but also VERY noob-friendly fitting) before eventually dying, but he ended the match with positive K/D, and so did I. |
