hello there! I haven't posted in a while, but i'm still playing Dust 514 often! after a couple rounds of deleting and re-creating Alts I have came up with my favorite fit that costs only 500k SP (okay, you will need to do ONE battle) here is the skills i have: Scrambler rifle Operation IV.
that's it! With level 4 of the scrambler rifle operation you unlock the fully automatic scrambler rifle (can't remember the name) the key to surviving without any DropSuit upgrades is to use the militia heavy dropsuit. those things are essentialy the protection of 3 of the default layouts. as for speed: you're slower than a logistics user. nuff-said. as for the rifle, you can take out both shield tankers and armor tanks with ease. your biggest weakness is laser rifle. Good laser rifle operators will shoot ya down real quickly, the best way to avoid getting killed by lazers is to keep the combat at short range. later, I would reccomend going for laser rifle V or a good heavy/assult dropsuit. Well, that's my favorite default layout, please, fell free to share your favorite layout.

Do you find you run out of ammo a lot? When I've tried the ScR, I noticed the base scrambler rifle has ample ammo and a ton of damage potential before needing resupply due to the ability to charge shots. It also gives you more range which can make your slower speed as a heavy less of an issue.
Other than that, decent idea I guess. In the <1mil SP range kind of anything goes because you're just in it to have fun. So w/e. |

So w/e. when I battle with the ScR I never run out of ammo (unless I'm taking out an LAV) the suit itself is 20k ISK / unit so it's self-sustaining even if your KDR is below 1. the semi- auto is good for camping and the auto is good for face-face combat. I have used both and prefer the auto plainly because of the damage it does to shields (it takes out a heavy suit in 7 hits +/-) and because it works very well against the people the the GEK-38s and the 'toxin' submachine guns. |

I really like the scope and the large clip size. But it's a bit less forgiving at range and against armor-heavy targets. |

Just tested this out on my alt here and I can attest this is legit. Never used this thing before and I gotta say I'm liking it. +1 |

Hmm. I have some comments
1. the full-auto, loses you the ability to charge up a shot. 2. the (maximum) rate of fire is theoretically the same 3. the assault version does less damage per shot. HALF the damage, in fact.
Do you guys even know that you can trigger-spam it just like the pistol, to get rapidfire? Which is why even the regular one is rated at 700 rounds per minute?
Okay, the assault version has a larger clip, and total capacity. But unless you like to seriously abuse spraying it like an SMG, you'll probably never need it.
I find that once I get a target nicely settled in my sights, a rapidfire 6 shots with the level1 gun, takes out 90% of any target I'm going for. in approximately 1 second total time.
If you have extra time and a clueless target, that lets you do a nice slow leisurely charged shot, then rapidfire to finish off anything left.

IIRC, 70+ damage is charged damage, not uncharged? May be wrong though.
Trigger spam only lasts for 6-8 shots, then you overheat.
@OP: I find the militia amarr medium suit to be nice with complex shield extenders, 599 HP for 12k ISK (using basic plasma cannon + SMG) is a bargain |

Yes, I have tried the Amarr suit also, I still like the militia heavy because it gives great armor with no SP required, That bieng said, I usually spend my SP on SMG upgrades, if i ever encounter a super heavy tanker, I use my ScR untill thier shields go boom then spray them with SMG bullets, works ~60% of the time, the other 40 they are using Forge guns. |
