I feel that the active scanners and shorter TTK have aided the severely disadvantage scouts had previously. Scouts always died fast but when hp means less due to more hits connecting, it almost has no effect on the scout considering that "one bullet one death" has been the scout motto for a while. Combine active scanners and you can wait till their back is turned to get the jump on them, slap on 2 complex damps and your immune to all but one active scanner and that one costs an arm and a leg.
In regards to dropships, I initially didn't like the new angles but I have found that with a little practice my aggressive piloting skills have made major gains. Previously I used the direction of my thrusters to determine my operating plane, but now I am literally able to use the bottom of the camera's relation to the ground to really sync my mind around my operating planes to where I am able to make much more aggressive dives and turns, even going so far as under buildings at full speed.
I'm throwing this out there because it seems like no one is experiencing the positive gains 1.4 has given me from from playing as a scout or pilot (dropship). I seem to be in the minority on this one, while I acknowledge scouts and dropships are still disadvantaged, I feel that they have benefited overall.
Anyways, pilots / scouts, what are your thoughts on this? No one is experiencing any positive changes on this? |

+1 for the positivity. -1 it you're a scout with a shotgun and kill me. That seems to work just fine again... Curses. |

I'm not a scout so I can't tell, but your logic is certainly sound to me...
In any case I do think that scouts with scanners will become increasingly important. Having the active scanners running is incredibly valuable for the team, and I hope that eventually you will get war points whenever a lit up target is being killed, because that's essentially an assist. Scanning is now like target painting in EVE, it dramatically lowers the probability of the target to have a good time.
I believe that this is what scouts should excel at, not "speed tanking". |

The challenge here is making sure the logi who is not at all strapped for points not receive the same benefits that scouts would using the active scanner. |

I agree on your points about Scouts, thanks to the new Tacnet set up, we've gained a serious stealth advantage (Which I've gleefully taken advantage of.), but this has only made us more important, and has revealed more of our flaws and strengths, I'm sure even PC players are starting to use scouts for actual recon/stealth tactics.
I know we're still not in a very good place, but I think now we've become more of a threat than most people realize, looking forward to when we get that long needed buff we've all been waiting for, it's only a matter of time. |

So an assault should have to equip damage mods to be good?

Like I mentioned before I think the scout is made for guerilla strategies.
Hide Pop up behind an enemy Finish him Rush away Hide & seek for the next victim
Couldnt play dust in the last 5 weeks, but what I read from 1.4 it seems like this whole scanning changes bring scouts where they should Be.or atleast its moving in the right direction |

I'd say scouts have gained from the update but also the emphasis on team play means they still don't last long because fewer players go off alone now so not easy finding lone targets. Plus the extra hit detection means when they are spotted they die far quicker than before and its harder to compensate with extenders and plates due to fewer slots compared to other frames. Id also say the new maps don't help us as they are either large open maps or underground corridors where we're easily spotted covering the ground or have nowhere to manoeuvre and outflank. What would really help us is something very basic that all real life infiltrators and covert ops specialists use - camouflage (and having a huge red chevron over our heads when the enemy turn their gun across us doesn't help) |

Yes, the tacnet changes are good for scouts - however, the TTK is now even shorter because if we are spotted, an AR just has to point in our general direction from 100m and we're down; at least before if we got spotted we had a chance to avoid fire (even with the lagging hitboxes, which incidentally still exist!). |

Flanking, sneaking, hiding, scanning... the changes made all that more relevant regardless of what suit you use. So yeah, doing that in a scout suit is more efficient. So is doing it in a logi suit, except they you can also carry, say, a nanohive and droplink to complement that scanner while also having enough CPU to fit it all. |
