I feel that the active scanners and shorter TTK have aided the severely disadvantage scouts had previously. Scouts always died fast but when hp means less due to more hits connecting, it almost has no effect on the scout considering that "one bullet one death" has been the scout motto for a while. Combine active scanners and you can wait till their back is turned to get the jump on them, slap on 2 complex damps and your immune to all but one active scanner and that one costs an arm and a leg.
In regards to dropships, I initially didn't like the new angles but I have found that with a little practice my aggressive piloting skills have made major gains. Previously I used the direction of my thrusters to determine my operating plane, but now I am literally able to use the bottom of the camera's relation to the ground to really sync my mind around my operating planes to where I am able to make much more aggressive dives and turns, even going so far as under buildings at full speed.
I'm throwing this out there because it seems like no one is experiencing the positive gains 1.4 has given me from from playing as a scout or pilot (dropship). I seem to be in the minority on this one, while I acknowledge scouts and dropships are still disadvantaged, I feel that they have benefited overall.
Anyways, pilots / scouts, what are your thoughts on this? No one is experiencing any positive changes on this? |

+1 for the positivity. -1 it you're a scout with a shotgun and kill me. That seems to work just fine again... Curses.
I main the scram pistol but headshots have about the same effect |

In any case I do think that scouts with scanners will become increasingly important. Having the active scanners running is incredibly valuable for the team, and I hope that eventually you will get war points whenever a lit up target is being killed, because that's essentially an assist. Scanning is now like target painting in EVE, it dramatically lowers the probability of the target to have a good time.
I believe that this is what scouts should excel at, not "speed tanking".
The challenge here is making sure the logi who is not at all strapped for points not receive the same benefits that scouts would using the active scanner. |
