i dont mow my grass, i hire others who want my money to do it for me. Its a perk of being a real corp. We have money. |

CoD. Assuming that two players had the exact same gun, and the exact same perks, who would win? They made the game as newb friendly as possible, which is a note every game should capitalize on Right before now,it took AT least a week to learn just how to AIM. If you are a casual player (the guys who would be most willing to spend money to get good gear w/o such extreme time investment), would you play for a week just to learn how to AIM? At least now it only take a match or two to get the hang of how aiming works. Instead of shooting out any mechanic that brings new guys onto the lair of the vet, why not just, as all the vets say, get good? Learn how to fight it, or die.
COD has ruined a genre of gaming and using it as any form of an argument here makes me cringe.

ill be honest here, whether or not you feel it is a noob tactic to hire a mercenary, which we all are in the first place, in times of war you can have 20-30 districts on lock a day. Many smaller corps who dont have land might not realize this. Whether or not we have enough concurrent active players to defend our turf, it is convenient to hire people for help. After all, we do have alliances between corporations for a reason. People also need to realize hiring help from friends does not mean we lack the skill to fight. It would be foolish however to assume every single player in a big name corporation is a life taker and heart breaker.
Try not to hate on global lol, he is actually pretty damn good and is new to our corp, so im sure he is digging the tags. There are plenty of other people who come to these forums thinking they have weight to throw around simply because they have a shiny name. |

There are plenty of other people who come to these forums thinking they have weight to throw around simply because they have a shiny name. Let me be clear. It is not a noob tactic, regardless on how it reflects on how much skill your corp has, to use another corp to win battles. The only reason I bring it up is because your new member is flashing his tag around like it gives him the right to speak loudly and actually say if people don't have a certain experience they don't get an opinion. It's just such great material in which to show someone whose ego is over-blown over nothing how bad his opinion is. I'm sorry if I've offended any STB.
no offense taken and im sure Global isnt pissed at you, but the trolling, which comes with being in STB. He'll figure that out and he'll need to learn to take the inevitable trolls with a grain of salt. I am proud that a newer member thinks so highly of our tags, as I have invested a lot of myself in this corporation and it means others see worth in that. I believe it doesnt reflect negatively on a corp to use another corp, since a corporation's A, B, C, etc. teams can only be in one battle at once. Frankly, I think it speaks well of a corp to actually have diplomatic relations with others. It shows a maturity and "big league" attitude that you don't see in many smaller corporations who aren't as familiar with the way New Eden runs. |

It's just such great material in which to show someone whose ego is over-blown over nothing how bad his opinion is. I'm sorry if I've offended any STB. it doesn't matter how good you are if youre a jerk...this global guy is a jerk, and he's arrogant for thinking skills in a game gives him the right to dictate who should post in the forums...lets face it, this game doesn't get you any street cred or make you some kind of respected world citizen. this guy global acts like because he can play dust people should bow down to him...it makes him look pathetic, and he hurts the STB name because of it...I honestly don't care how much skill he has in this game, he has no people skills, that's more important.
It is also a fact that because of the new aim assist, there are a lot more noobs on the forums who have an inflated sense of importance and know-how simply because they feel like they became sharpshooters overnight and are attributing their newfound prowess to nothing but their own capabilities. People skills are a must, but it is moot to say he has none when a majority of the people in this thread are shameless trolls. Where are their manners? It is annoying for a vet to suck it up and tolerate a senseless noob spouting crap when he knows he clearly knows better lol. Part of what makes a vet knowledgeable is they have seen the many changing faces of this game and seen the way they have affected gameplay. Someone who has only been here since even open beta simply does not know as much about the game as he wants to think he does.
I am not directing my comments at any particular person, just making a point. |

Long Evity wrote:your point only shows that a vet can make an assumptions more accurately then a noob can. The changes are what the mechanics are modernly - which anyone can understand within a small time-frame with a little effort. Knowing CCP nerf hammers everything without listening to the community does no one any good. Largely - CCP ignores us anyways and does whatever there pub data tells them. Thus we got Uprising.
You see, this goes to prove my point. I know for a fact CCP doesn't ignore us. Back in closed beta, they were planning on having way more content in the game earlier on but we wouldnt have had corporations, corp battles/PC, or other stuff. We told them they would be crazy to launch without corporations so they put their plans aside and instead gave us what we thought the game needed. A newer player would not know this because they would not have been there. In addition, many players demand changes to the game that we have actually had in the past, which have been changed because they didnt work, e.g. direct fire on swarms and an hmg having the same damage per bullet as an AR.
It isnt that a vet thinks he/she knows more because they have more sp or they have been playing longer, its because we have seen all the mistakes, changes, and ideas that CCP has put out there build after build and we have learned right along with CCP what does and doesn't mesh with their ideas for Dust.
On the flip side, there are many "vets"who think they know better simply because they have a large amount of sp or they are on the bandwagon with a shiny corp tag and think they are important and carry weight through association. I think this is what your problem was with global, and all i have to say about that is after playing with him, he isnt simply a guy who an point a gun. He has pproven to me has has an above average understanding of FPS mechanics and speaks with a sincere intent of helping this game, which right or wrong, is all you can ask for on a public forum where everyone has a a valid opinion. Well, except for noobs.
edit: just because you are a vet doesnt mean your opinion is correct btw.....being a vet DOES lessen the amount of bad ideas tho lol. an 11 year old COD fanatic could have been here since E3, but that doesnt make him more knowledgeable than a newb, it just makes him a 12 year old COD fanatic. |

KD is a useless stat in this game. For the longest time kills in skirmish were not recorded unless you actually cloned the enemy team. Any great player can have his KD demolished if his deaths are the only things being recorded round after round, especially if you are like me and specifically only play skirmish unless the squad drags me elsewhere.
Would be a nice troll if the game wasnt so broken. |

Also, I disagree. We NEED noobs to keep this game alive. CCP doesn't balance their changes based on things noobs say; they balance it on the data provided.
CTFD and play the game, boss. Did you ever consider taking one of the newberries under your wing and teaching them about the game? I do that to at least 1 newberry a day and that is one player who won't quit. That is one player who won't think everything is OP because I showed him what makes HIS weapon OP.
I'm making this game better; what have you done, today?
i take a very active role in training newbs in STB's organization. |
