Before the patch I got used to resisting long bursts - instead it was a matter of lining up where you could to do a short burst, and chewing down the other guy piecemeal (often while they did a long burst/wasted their shots)
Now it feels like holding off is a bad idea (assuming you can keep your aim near the target somewhat) - either your burst will be enough to kill them, or if you hold off you'll suffer a huge DPS drop and die no matter.
I don't mind it, I'm just wondering whether other folks think the age of the short controlled burst just ended, or whether it's still viable? I kind of don't want to experiment (ie, DIE) over trying SCB's over and over, so I thought I'd ask instead. |

I'm actually having a lot of fun (and surprisingly success) with the GK13 Burst Rifle |

Sure, spray and pray is always fun if your goal is putting holes in the walls behind the target and you don't mind running out of ammo before the enemy dies. Go for it.
If you're hip firing, dispersion is still an issue. If you're ADS, you still need to keep the crosshairs generally over the target.
Also, you're going to get more mileage out of the standard AR by using short bursts of your own making rather than using the Burst AR ... because sometimes you just need to unload into a Heavy's face and the pause between bursts on the GK13 is going to get you killed. |

For any Full Auto AR i tend to use 5-7 round burst while hip firing. It helps conserve ammo and several good hits can help get you the kill. If ADS i place the sight at center mass an up the rounds to 6-9 the recoil helps getting head shots more often. As for taking down Heavy's. i tend to aim around their waist (hip and ADS). So as I unload (FULL AUTO) more shots stay center mass. So I think control fire is still a viable way to take down clones. |

Previously I'd do short bursts and would often see the pretty white lines of the other guys bullets spraying and not missing me.
Now it just seems they continually hit and it's basically a DPS race. To stop firing at that point seems a bad idea.
Maybe I should just suck it up and do a bunch of ambush matches so I get alot of chances to test it, instead of sporadice chances that skirmish and dom give.
ALSO I'm wondering if there's some kind of client bug screwing things up - I was actually getting a few short freezes in the game and not doing well (like killing no one, just about). I quit out and restarted, and then I'm maybe killing more than half the guys I run into. I've seen posts on this sort of issue in the past (though I'm surprised if a client could indeed effect the game so much) |

I'm begining to think that rather than miss entirely when they spray, they hit but do not as great damage is someone who occasionally burst fires on them. So it's a far tighter window, but medium bursts, stop and realign (while strafing) then medium burst might be the way to go.
Then some other guy pops out after I kill them and finishes off my remaining 30 armour... |

yea cheap gimmicks are for the good of the game. things like skill which has been removed from the game scare noobs away. we need things like aim bot to keep attracting this phantom target audience of ppl who don't play FPS competitively. even the casual gamers are disgusted by this sub class of themselves.
