As someone coming from EVE who is often really critical about Dust i have to say the following:
The people in the Map Team, and especially CCP LogicLoop, seem to have understood the way CCP has made EVE a successfull game and the way CCP has managed to grow an amazing community around it
keep up your good work, keep delivering great new maps, keep tweeting about your work, keep sharing pictures, keep writing fantastic Devblogs, just keep doing what you are doing right now because you are doing the right thing.
Please make sure you share that spirit with your coworkers, many of whom seem to be afraid of us :)
i can't wait to see your maps in a more meaningful way, where the things i fight in are the same things my guns are produced in, where i can change the game mode by destroying Null cannons, where i can switch from one map to another by finishing an objective (that gamemode was removed during beta, but it was glorious).
also a catwalk like in de_nuke and a ventilation shaft like in cs_assault please :D |

Agreed completely, Team Knee 101 and Team Daddies are doing an excellent job. As for the communication part, I'm not sure if many people from that team are that good with English, but LogicLoop more than makes up for all of them. |

I have seen CCP Ytterbium give presentations at Fanfest

I honestly think the map layouts they design are terrible, and allows for huge spawn trapping problems where the spawn trapped team have no ways to escape.
Like the skyfire map. If your team spawn in the bowl, you're ****** until the spawns put you somewhere else. All the exits from that location are in the direction where the enemy team will be firing from.
So you have 3 choices.
1: Sit there and wait to die. 2: Try to escape, and probably die. 3: Try to fight your way out, and die.
If my team spawns in locations like that, I just choose to not spawn until our team spawn changes. The maps they build need to incorporate more emergency exit paths to escape situations like that. Every outpost map has this problem, teams are constantly being spawn with their backs against the wall with to may to escape.
But that wont happen because they're more worried about preventing roof campers from having a height advantage. |

Bad spawn points, bad map design, bad developers. People who screw around with forge on halo can build better maps. |

Honestly, I think Dust 514 has the worst maps of just about any FPS I've ever played. |

That maps do look cool But they don't play very well

Exactly. Unfortunately, when they set ambush spawning to work similarly to Domination or Skirmish spawning, everyone threw a ******* hissy fit. It not only solved the spawn problem, but also created a much more clear "front line" for the battles. People just couldn't handle having to actually spend a few seconds (or work with a vehicle user) getting back to the front line and complained until CCP gave us this terrible spawning back. |

The community packs for Unreal 2004 designed by the modding fraternity crap all over the Dust maps. They are terribad designs.
There are the odd good sections with the right amount of cover that have the right number of exists and entrances but on the whole they are giant bowls punctuated by scrambled blobs of buildings filled with dead ends and corridors that lead nowhere and excessive blockages that prevent you from moving. |

Out of all the problems I've had with this game, past and present, I've never had any issue with the map teams. Keep up the good work. Just give us more maps so I can stop getting Manus Peak 5 times in a row lol. |
