Give it up man. I've been barking up this tree for months and nobody wants to hear it. My unallocated SP that I was saving up for the Minmatar heavy and combat rifle are going onto Caldari assault and the AR because that's the only thing CCP wants us to use. The sooner you realize this truth, the better off you'll be in the long run. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, troll, or anything of that nature, just trying to save you the trouble because from what I've seen, nobody that matters cares. |

Played a couple of rounds, and I gotta say: there were literally not a single mention of a non-AR variant, except for the occasional sniper in the killfeed.

To be fair I see a lot of Lasor rifles and a growing number of Scrambler Rifles as well but all these weapons benefit from aim assist in the same matter.
Aslo I dislike what the new combination of improved hit detection and aim assist has made for those weapons I like the growing diversity in weapon usage. |

Proficency 4 Assault Scram Rifles w/ 2 Complex Damage mods suck in comparison to even a simple GEK. As soon as it hits armor, it basically stops doing damage. And with Assault players running at least 1 plate - sometimes up to 3 or more - the AR's damage profile makes it far superior to an Assault Scrambler :( |

I'm afraid to log in and be fed bullcrap. But I have to for the SP. When I get killed by a SCR it's cool, except at 1m. When I get killed by an AR in ALL ranges, it pisses me off! Is this game going to advance or what?! |

It's not the AR, it's the ridiculous aim assist, just as OP stated. Tune down the magnetism and other aim assist features so every scrub who can pull a trigger doesn't have all-but-perfect aim. |

Again I will say that what magnetism you are suffering from is solely due to KB/M user issues. Turn off Aim Assist with KB/M and you will not see any magnetism that is noticable. |

LOL that is not aim assist, that is an awful combination of LAG latency and messed up hitboxes.
Aim assist does not make your bullets curve, it does not make them hit when your hitscan is out of target.
That video is terribly bad-informed. |

After extensive research (bullshit) I came to following conclusions:
Assault rifles dominate mid-long range, mid range, mid-short range, and short range exclusively. Scrambler rifles dominate mid and mid-long range if no ARs are present. Laser rifles dominate long range HARD, again, if no ARs are present.
And to summarize: ALL HAIL AR AR 514
But to be serious here, the auto aim locks on at maximum range, it should however lock on at optimal range and below. Or better, optimum range with a +-margin. |

EDIT: Oh, and the AR has better range, and less dispersion, and less kick. The first 10-15 shots with an AR cause 0 recoil, an ASCR has recoil throughout. As soon as you let off the trigger with an AR, the kick resets. The ASCR does not have this feature. Overall, AR is a very broken weapon in comparison to it's peers.
Hmm last time I checked the AsCR has better range and less damage fallof then the AR. It also has less initial recoil and spread than the AR BUT the AR benefits greatly from Skills regarding accurracy there are two skills that inrease accurcy by a whopping 25%...thats an advantage the AsCR has not. |

And the problem with this, is that based on what we've been told through the fluff and the Dev blogs, it should be something like this:
Assault Rifle, by which I mean the Blaster Rifle (or whatever they want to call it) dominates mid-short range and short-range, does okay in mid-range, relatively useless at mid-long and totally useless at long.
Scrambler Rifle dominates the mid-ranges with decreasing effectiveness the further away you get from mid-mid-range, including mid-long, mid, and mid-short. Can work at short range, but not very effective (other weapons dominate, weapon characteristics fail it), and also doesn't do well at long range (all relative for normal ranges, so excluding Sniper Rifles and such)
Laser Rifle is kind of a specialty weapon, so less versatility, but extreme effectiveness (like the shotgun). Crushes at long range, can go to mid-long range and not be useless, getting more and more worthless as you get closer and closer.
And that's just for the weapons proposed. An example of one not mentioned, would be the shotgun, like the LR, specialty, so it should crush at short range, even vs. an AR. |
