One of the biggest things I think that continuously exacerbates the performance issues people have in this game is the sheer enormous amounts of equipment that are on the field at any given time. Particularly in PC, sometimes the maps/sockets are so littered with nanohives/equipment that your minimap looks like a Christmas tree.
What I'm suggesting is that the game put a limit on an individual player's ability to spam equipment around the battlefield, forcing players to play a bit more tactically with their equipment. What I mean by this is that no matter how many types of nanohives or uplinks a player may have available in his fits, only, for example, three total nanohives or three total uplinks could be active at any given time. Any new nanohive or uplink beyond the third would destroy the first accordingly, regardless of what type it was. I'm sure this is the point where my Logibros start throwing rocks at me telling me to GTFO, but this equipment spam is seriously something that is destabilizing this game.
The equipment we use doesn't even feel of any importance once a supply depot is secured and allowed to be exploited. Drop all your equipment -> switch into next fit -> drop more equipment -> rinse and repeat. Once a successful turtle is established around a supply depot, it's a constant uphill battle trying to find and destroy the tens or hundreds of uplinks scattered everywhere. Make equipment seem more important and tactically useful, not something that can be littered around every nook and crannie of a map. And the bonus side effect of this would also bring an increase in performance! |

brb, making more fittings with every uplink available on the market
Honestly, the problem is that each variant of uplink has its own limit. If there was a limit to 3 uplinks per player, no matter what the variant, this would be solved. This is exactly what I mean:
Each player can drop a max of 3 uplinks, regardless of type. Each player can only drop a max of 3 nanohives, regardless of type. |

SirManBoy wrote:Garbage suggestion, OP. Thanks to 1.4 you assault types had your wet dream wishes granted with auto aim. But now you're suggesting a limit on equipment too? Typical. Stop trying to make this a ****** game, guys. Diversity makes this game special and I didn't dump millions of SP into equipment to be subject to some arbitrary limit on its use. I've been an adamant opponent against aim assist since Hour 0 of 1.4, and I don't even play with aim assist, so your little straw man argument is null. I realized Logis would hate this suggestion because it brings equipment into balance, but it's a necessary thing to cull the insane equipment spam we see especially in PC. |
