It should also show when triage hives are equipped.
AND just to clarify ... EQUIPPED MEANS FITTED, NOT IN HAND. I need to know WHEN I need my triage options, not have to get them out to SEE if anybody needs them ! |

Toby Flenderson wrote:Signed. It's reasonable to have them visible only when the repair tool is being used. and what about Triage hives ?
Should I have to switch to my hives or repair tool to be able to see if a friendly is low on health ... just to find out he's still ok and could probably use a bit more dps to deal with that Heavy before he turns and starts spraying us both with a gazillion bullets a second ! |

But all these people on here complaining about a rep tool that i only see less then a handful of people actually use... My cheap fit carries a basic needle and advanced triage hives ... I find it amusing when I pick up blueberries and they charge straight back at the guy that just killed them rather than turning to find the cover I've dropped a repair hive in ! |

Telleth wrote:I will say, when I pull out a sniper, I really appreciate the lack of health bars all over the screen. On the other side, I don't generally run a rep tool, but I can see this as being obnoxious, it was bad with the LLAV repper, but it has always been a pain to use.
Maybe get HUD options, each player choosing what info they want that they find pertinent. Having those options save to each suit would be pretty awesome... I would love to turn off the objective boxes while sniping. What we're really asking for is for them to show, but only when your fitting includes something that can repair other peoples health ... so your sniper wouldn't be affected unless you were carrying a repair tool or triage hives. |

RydogV wrote:The best possible fix would be to give any player carrying a repair tool or triage nanohive the ability to see the health status of any friendly player within a 35m radius, to cover slightly more distance than the Repair Tool with the greatest range (Lai Dai Flux Repair Tool, 31.5m). Yeah we don't really need to see everyone across the entire map ... just those within reach ... ie. a bit further than the range of the best repair tool as RydogV suggests ... much further than that and we likely struggle to catch up to them anyway.

I understand your wanting to declutter the screen ... and the improved performance from less going on ... How about only showing people who aren't at full health ... I was going to say armour damaged, but if we're going to see shield repair tools n transporters n shield booster hives etc. then any damage display would be needed. |

My only concern is ... Are we going to end up being the laggy'ist role in the game because we're the only ones having to download live stats of everyone nearby ?
I understand the reasoning behind decluttering the display ... it's presumably a massive performance boost if I don't need to know how many hp everyone has got right now.
This could be one of the main reasons we're seeing such an improvement in hit detection and reduction in lag since 1.4 !
Might a better solution be some kind of "Needs Aid" indicator ... with a simpler traffic light system showing green for less than half shield, yellow for no shield and 10% armour gone, orange for 50% armour gone and red for 25% armour gone.
This would lighten the load on having to track exact hp values of everyone nearby yet still provide logis with information on who needs repairs and how urgently.
Could this be a more optimal solution ? |

NO ... that's no use at all ... as has been said by many in this thread.
We shouldn't be required to switch to our repair tool or triage hives just to find out IF anybody needs repairs. |

Vespasian Andendare wrote:This would really invalidate much of the shared squad vision and less visual clutter changes that came with 1.4. Those changes actually really improved the game, and made the scanner a powerful tool. The shared squad vision was a red dot change ... but they took it to extreme and de-cluttered everything.
As I've said earlier it's probably a lot of the reason we're seeing a smoother game, since everyone isn't having to download detailed hp information about everyone in the battle.
If it would be too difficult to tie it to having specific equipment fitted ... perhaps it could be a trait of the logistics suits and vehicles, if that would be easier to code ... this isn't the ideal choice but if it means we can get a fix sooner I'm sure most would be happy with it until it dcan be tied to the triage equipment / modules.
Again ... some people still seem to be saying things liek 'When you're using a repair tool' ... THIS WILL NOT DO ... it needs to be when triage equipment is fitted to the suit you're using, otherwise I could be standing next to a heavy providing support fire with no idea that he's very low on armour and I could keep us both alive by stepping back into cover and locking a repair tool on him while he finishes everyone off.
Someone suggested changing the colour of names, that'd work, but I'd still like to see something like a couple of traffic light indicators showing shield and armour levels, maybe green for >75%, orange for 50-75%, yellow for 25-50% and red for <25% ... they don't need to be huge and can be tagged into the name line like ... #@Needless Sacermendor ... with some shield and armour symbols.
Also I think everyone should be named ... even red dots ... it makes calling targets easier, obviously only when they're scanned and visible to squad, but when they are their name should show, the shield n armour symbols could give vague target intel and when YOUR reticule is on them you get their full health bars.
So you're only downloading small amounts of info about the majority of people (16 combinations of 4 colours on 2 symbols) rather than 2 numbers in the hundreds ... the server knows how many hitpoints everyone has, but it only needs to send out a couple of colours and 1 set of bars for the one you're aimed at and we retain good performance and a decluttered display.
Anyone with a repair tool or triage hives equipped or operating a logistics vehicle gets these extra shield n armour indicators for everyone and anyone not equiped to provide repairs could get them just for scanned enemies until they have a reticule on them to bring up hp bars |
