Turning it off only gives a disadvantage against everyone who has it on. wripple wrote:What's the point in having skill shot weapons or any sort of gun game ability if aim assist is there providing an easy-kill for everyone.
I am a good shot with an assault rifle, I was great at outflanking and overtaking my opponents with simple user skill and standard gear, but I can no longer say that I can outgun my opponents simply because we both hit almost every bullet at nearly every range, outgunning means just having the bigger gun now.
This game attracted me because of the learning curve and player skill that was required to beat your opponents, matches have become boring and unattractive now that killing has been made easy.
High tier gear should only be effective in skilled hands. And you won't turn it off because you'll be at a disadvantage?
Is it really that hard a concept to grasp? He used to be able to kill people disproportionately. Now aim-assist bridges the skill gap between him and the people he used to pwn.

Hahaha keep up the tears.
So, instead of benefitting from the aim-assist, you just have no experience with it, and are thereby completely unqualified to comment on it. Nice work. |

Welll acctually I also have adv in every wepon appart from shot gun and have been testing thus apparent aim bot since the launch of 1.4 and can say I dony notice it . I still get as many kills on ground as I did before 1.4 I also die just the same so go figure . (Yes I am a tanker I have 14 mill sp in maxed shield tanks and aprox 6 mill in suits and wepons) so I can comment. I might just pick my fights better.
So why bring up your tanker credentials to suggest that you don't benefit from aim-assist? You're contradicting yourself. |

Outside of the few short periods where there was aim assist that never worked consistently enough to be of value before Uprising 1.4, there has only been one weapon which ever did anything resembling "aiming for you", and that's the Swarm Launcher. Guess that makes tankers the only ones with enough "experience" against auto-aiming weapons to have a valid opinion from the target side. And AV guys the best ones to ask about it from the shooter's point of view. I've had some issues on day one with the aim assist, and the past 2 days after hotfixes, it's seemed like it's pretty close to the level it should be. I'm still in the testing phase with it, trying to determine details about the mechanics which might help to better confirm the scale of the problem, but at the moment, I think it needs to be slightly dialled back from its current strength.
Are you really making the argument that any kind of tank v infantry situation can be analogous to an infantry v infantry scenario? |

You sir just want an argument im just stating what I have noticed. And I usually only run ground when solo. I also use most wepons situationally or for FUN oh gasp heven for bid fun in a game.
You said you were a tanker in order to avoid the criticism that you benefit from aim-assist. You then brought up your experience as infantry to avoid the criticism that you have no valid experience with aim-assist. These are mutually exclusive positions, you can't have both. All I did was call you on it. |

Thing is aim assist may be too strong, but it affects everyone. If you were a good player before 1.4 you are still a good player now.
Yes, but now the advantage granted by aiming skill has been all but removed. There may be various other skills to rely upon, but each one that gets taken away lowers the margin between skilled & unskilled players. |

The aim assist only blurred the line between skill and no life SP farming "vets". I approve of this. DUST is an FPS, not a standard RPG where the player who has leveled up more will be the clear winner. The extra sp gives them an advantage, but not an "I win" button.
How can you approve of aim-assist and criticise the potential RPG style imbalances in the same post!? |
