I'm positive we can all come up with negative things about the 1.4 build, but there is some pretty awesome changes that I feel the devs need to get serious credit for. Documented, and undocumented, changes.
- Being able to zoom in much more on the maps. Previously we could only zoom in so far, but with 1.4, the zoom on the map is greatly increased. The tactical use of this new feature is pretty great if used correctly.
- Last battle report. Not sure about anybody else, but I really like this feature. Being able to bring up my last battle is just pure win, and it is a step in the right direction for a more in-depth battle history (imagine being able to see the last 50 battles you fought in).
- Double chevron for squad-leaders. May not seem like much of a change, but I rather enjoy it. Especially since I can see the enemy SL's too
- Daily SP bonus + updates UI. It doesn't seem much much SP, but I personally like the concept of it, and the new daily updates UI is great. If it had more details, like how much active SP we gained that day/week, it wold be even better. But one step at a time.
- Laser rifle sights. Oh boy, LR's are back! They may still be very situational, but LR's now have a sporting chance among the other weapons in the game, and I am glad to see that. Had the most fun of the night using my LR. Even if I didn't get much kills, it was very rewarding using it. And it is actually quite deadly too, just needs a bit more range.
- Armor changes. This is pure win for pretty much everybody in the game, including shield tankers. As it gives us all another option to look at when crafting our suits.
- Matchmaking. The first day of 1.4 was pretty bad for the most part, but since DT I have not yet gotten into a mode I didn't select (I selected only ambush, and only got ambush matches all night long) Overall matches are pretty well balanced (teams with decent squads still win, but it is much less imbalanced than it was pre-1.4)
- New map!! While the new map layout seems iffy for ambush, I do like that we have a new map to play on! Plus the new map seems to have some influence on older maps too.
- Chat timestamps. Yeah, this is just pure win, nobody can deny that.
There is probably more that I can't remember ATM, but add in yours too! |

They are hammering out all the crap that came with 1.4 when there done 1.4 will have been a pure success. Since the beginning of Uprising things have only be getting better and better. Slowly going the right direction.

+1.
I've been focusing on the negatives, because getting them straightened out is important.
But even when I've been actively testing things, I've had moments where I've literally been cackling like a madman in front of the TV as I do something crazy (sometimes even when it doesn't work). |

Exactly, we do tend to focus on the negative because we care about the game and want to see it improve. But at the same time we forget there is awesome things that have been done.
May not be perfect, but there is some good stuff amongst the problems |

AA makes DS3 feel sober. It just needs a little bit of polish.
Love the boss UI.
Great new HD.
Overall, from my point of view, 1.4 is good for DS3ers. But, light suits just got murdered. Could be worse I suppose. At least lights are probably getting buffed in some way in 1.5. |

I like that uplinks etc. are no longer visible on the radar across the map. And shared team vision being off is great!
Although the latter has forced me to completely change my play style. I'm a full time scout, and while it never felt very sturdy, now I really do die lightning fast as soon as someone spots me. Pre-update, I could hold my own in close-to-medium range combat with my assault scrambler rifle and flaylock. Now, any sort of CQC where the enemy is aware of me has a 95% failure rate. I absolutely have to carry an active scanner to have any sort of survivability, it lets me do clever maneuvering.
On the other hand, I've found that I'm actually able to use the regular scrambler rifle with some success now. Pre-update, I'd be lucky to get 1 kill per match with that, now I get a decent number and a whole bunch of assists. |
