So as my first post I figured I'd loose all the stops and let it rip. I've done some playing and testing today and here is what I have discovered. Unless a team has 2 or more ACTIVELY scanning players they scream "the *** is OP" or "my *** isn't working." Yet when they had the scanners nothing was wrong because "Hey both teams get it". I couldn't have cared less today about weapons or auto aim. As a logi I am more often concerned with allied health bars and names than enemies. So I played with the active scanner. Imagine my surprise when MY ENTIRE TEAMS hit, kill, and survival rates skyrocketed every time I clicked scan, and low and behold if I approached 2 full squads of redberries outside a 30 degree scan cone from my nearest teammate; not only did THE WHOLE enemy team not see me, when i did finally appear on someones radar 4-6 guys could turn and start firing and i was all 1.3 bunny hoping and doing a great stroke of logi evasion till...... BAM...... "You have been scanned" .... Every bullet, piece of grenade shrapnel, and belt buckle withing that 30 degree cone pierced my brain stem. I'm thinking "No way". It's not possible every weapon or projectile now depends on radar signature of target. So i tested it a little more. If I went 1/4...0/5..... 0/7 and became a glorified radar beacon my team won handily every time. Luck me i got to stand around waiting for my scanner to recharge and then scanning again. I couldn't blame my team mates. They weren't watching the kills scroll like i was or the map like i was. They were busy shooting people. I had time. I sat all day with my scanner in hand blasting the enemy with inconsequential EM waves. Finishing somewhere between 13th and last nearly each time. I had time to watch the kills on BOTH sides almost perfectly match the duration of an active scanner. "You've been scanned".... 4 of my teammates die.... I click scan..... 3 redberries die..... oodles of matches. Watching both sides mill about like ants till a scanner on one side or the other went off.... then both teams POURED into 2 - 16 strong funnels in the 30 degree cone and FED EACH OTHER. Scanners and recon make or break you now.... not weapon... In NONE of the scenarios above did i see one particular weapon take as strong as an advantage as I believe any are being given. As soon as my team was scanned we died from forge guns, mass drivers, ARs, and grenades and vice versa. Don't believe me? Try it. Run 6 matches in militia gear of your class with an active scanner. then run 6 in your proto suit with out one. Then you tell me why it seems hes shooting you in the head before you even clear the corner. |

You guys that stand there with your active scanner out while it's recharging crack me up.
You have plenty of time in between scans to drop a hive, rep/res a bluedot, shot a reddot, etc. I use them often and I just finished a game with 2000 WP and 17 kills.
Use your time effectively and you'll earn points effectively.

I agree, I still rack up my kills as a scout and I'm usually right around the corner of the enemy position scanning them, as they turn or corner or as I see one drift off, I drop them when they turn their backs. I'm topping kill boards a lot more often with the active scanner improvements and I have used it all throughout 1.3 as well. |

I don't mind the noobs being able to shoot me now. I haven't been in a single 1-sided match yet thanks to the matchmaking (or was that turned off...) and the aim assist. I actually need to be careful when fighting noobs and vets alike. I plan how to approach, how to retreat. When to engage. Watch your flank.
We actually need to be careful and smart now vs. any opponent. Matches are close and fun now. Blueberries aren't 100% useless anymore. I'll never want it to go back to how it was in 1.3 or before.
Never.
Refine the matchmaking. Aim Assist stays for the sake of the newbros. All we need now are proper stealth/cloak modules, infantry hardeners, and claymore-style mines.
I've been hearing that the aim assist is helping people make fairly decent use of the flaylock pistol again.
The controller needs its sensitivity bumped up still, but thank goodness for the aim assist. Two-clip tangos are next to non-existent. |

Just needs to be toned down, it should assist your gun with connecting shots not turn every damn gun into a sniper rifle. was playing an awful match with a buddy of mine, 2 vs 6, no-one got in that room, they were shooting at us with assault rifles, lasers scramblers from very long range, connecting every shot and making my shields drop. Meanwhile the shotgun is now a game of russian roulette. I'm gonna go ahead and stick with the mass driver, after all people are crowding together now like I always wanted them to >:) |

It's good that shots are connecting.
We were all too dependent on people being bad shots.
We would run out in the open, and jump around and strafe, because it was easy not to get hit. We would run up and down the enemy's redline, killing anyone that tried to leave it, because again, it was so easy NOT to get shot.
The game requires us to be more careful with our movements, and is making matches fun, and we're complaining about that?
I had the most amazing fight on one of the new maps, on this gigantic bridge. The firefight was intense, and you had no one DARED stand in the open with ADS, thinking themselves Robocop.
The Aim Assists, SO FAR, seems to have had a VERY strong effect vs. pub-stomping. "CCP Jesus" forbid we EVER go back to how aiming was in 1.3. Or anything NEAR it.
Wolfman did a hell of a good job, the sensitivity just needs to be increased. |
