Not much on the armor yet, so I thought I'd start a thread.
I think it SUCKS, because as a sniper I don't get the benefit of aim assist (that's OK), but when I tried to kill a heavy today I gave him 4 charged shots and he was still going at me. Oh well...
Guess I'll have to HTFU, because: - I'm a squishy scout that hardly benefits from armor and shield increase - Sniping is less effective now - With an advanced scout suit and dampening proficiency, you'll still get scanned - The accuracy and reach of assault rifles is now INSANE!
Anyone else has feedback fo the devs regarding the armor update? |

A lot of this patch has been an unintended buff to a dedicated active scanning BPO scout such as myself. I'll tell a secret, the new armour plates means I can confidently run two basic reactive plates in my lows, providing a great balance between repair and buffer which gives me enough CPU to run a complex shi... Oh, nearly said too much.
Although my Caldari assault BPO (which i'll never touch...) can do the same thing now I guess...

An Advanced Armor plate now doubles your base armor count while leaving your signature size alone and reducing your run speed by a measly 3%.
How is that hardly benefitting? |

What, your rifle can't do 2000 HP of damage? You mean a suit designed to soak damage that has been broken for about a year and is now fixed is finally doing what it was designed to do?
As someone who also snipes, I have no sympathy for you. Pick better targets, or hit him in his head. |

I too think it is an amazing idea to gimp a style of tanking because otherwise 'They're harder to snipe'. |

I'm sure it's great for some people, just not for me. But with every change there'll be people that like it and people that don't. Overall I'm happy with this patch, and I'll make something else work for me. No need to whine! |

Outside of surviving sniper shots, the added armor buff has meant very little in light of the lethality of aim-assist. |

Surviving this much damage isn't "what its designed to do".
Perhaps it was the buff, I missed a shot, or it didn't register. Oh well. Open a new can of clones, and see whether I need to change my strategies.

He was using a thales but not used to one hitting that hard. Thales just used to annoy me because I would have to move. That guy made me run for cover.... so I don't know... either your not doing s ok mething right or I was against a very nasty sniper which I o7.

Ah, scratch that then. It more than doubles your base armor. +110HP isn't something to sneeze at. Just sayin' try it before you knock it! I tanked my Scout setup (I'm a dedicated fattie, but I go slumming on occasion) and I'm happy.

So I had a match sniping today, and was doing so with a Starter Fit. Because I'm a bad sniper and usually let my girlfriend do that job.
I managed to 2-shot a Heavy suit that lit up as "ADV" on my HUD.

If memory serves, the Charge does what, 300HP of damage? +20% makes this about 360 per shot, times 4 shots you get 1440. Hmm... Math still seems broke - whey didn't you kill someone with 2000HP? |

I like it. Im a medium frame and had found it too easy to drop heavies before they found cover. Now it seems they are filling thier role as an objective pusher and enemy suppression. The armor buff has been a long time coming, and much deserved. Now the heavies in my squad can hold a position while i move to flank. Win win. |

While I certainly appreciate that my HP has increased, the other changes (aim assist, hit detection) mean I'm dying faster than I was in 1.3 regardless. Shield tanks still seem to be the better option, too. Some of the shield tankers have just decided to supplement their massive shield buffer and quick recharge with an equally large armor buffer.
Since I'm trying to play an Amarr and follow Amarr doctrine, I believe Armor could still use a bit of work to be on par with Shields. |

I went for the head later when he was waddling at me, but I got him in the chest due to the terrain.

That's 321.9 x 115 (proficiency) x 120 (mods) x 4 (shots) = 1,777 damage. Or rather, a bit less, because of stacking penalties.
Still, how often can a sniper get 4 hits in? And how often does anyone in a FPS survive 4 hits from the most powerful sniper rifle in the game?
Perhaps my foe was an exceptionally durable sentinel. I'll never know!

My shields have felt like butter in all the matches I've been in. I've been finding it hard to even close on enemies at all since almost every long range weapon gets bonuses against shields. Not to mention that the complex armor mods now give double the hp of a complex shield mod. It makes armor tanking ideal for longer range combat out of the effective range of grenades. |
