Open up our districts for district owner's members to jump into, simple.
Do not allow any other players that aren't in your corporation to jump in as opponents, 0 isk and SP rewards, friendly fire on and keep suit loss per death.
The results: - PC strategy Practice - Messing around with new fits and weapons - Playground with testing capabilities - Nove Knifing your corp mates in an all out militia minja battle - Finding great sniper and forge gun spots for area denial - Tank Duels!
the possibilities are endless and I hope that I'm not naive in thinking this wouldn't be too hard to execute.
This will allow defending corporations an advantage by knowing their home field, why would we be defending a facility that we know nothing about when we own it?
I think this will be more than enough downtime fun for dust players before the addition of PVE, without the risk of having an exploitable feature.
Heck, you can even regard it as a test server.
I've always wanted this feature in the game for as long as districts have been rumored to be included in Dust

+1 Gives even more incentive to enter PC bussiness. But every respawn due to clone death should use up district clones. Or corp members could buy smal personal clone packs from Genolution to Sky SpawnGäó. Owner could also rent districts to other corps to stage 15 minutes matches. Clones borowed from district owner or bought from Genolution. |

we could develop this idea more after implementation, but the first step I think is for them to just let us join a game that is our district's map with FF turned on and only 16 on one side, heck maybe even have 32 players in there and have the leaderboards be a list of all 32 members under a single defender tab with our corp name and logo on it, wouldnt that be a sight to behold, your corporation name written down 32 times on a large holo-projector in the warbarge.
1.4 is a magnificent step forward for Dust in my opinion, it can finally be a squad based tactical shooter; something that i've longed for and could only dream of since playing the open beta.
lets take this step forward and run with it, make dust as amazing as EVE is (although, I dont play EVE.. still think its ******* awesome though lol)

CCP FoxFour mentioned some mysterious "thing" to do in a district not linked to attacking district. It sounded like mining/harvesting with the possibility of being rided and robbed of your harvest. Something that EVE players would care for too. No ETA was given.

CCP FoxFour wrote:Sorry, I did read your post but my response was not very clear as I was in a bit of a rush. That is my fault, sorry.
As much as possible we would like to keep the extraction of resources an active experience. Not something you click go on, come back to later, and $$$$. We would like to see the things you get from SI be things that encourage fighting and that sort of thing.
DUST is very much about being an FPS as well, not manufacturing things. EVE players who want the resources should maybe pay DUST players to fight to get them, but I just don't see DUST players being the ones to collect resources that EVE players already have access to. That does not mean no never, just... well there is so much other things to do first. I would however like to see clones used in EVE. The above has evolved into this: Posted on July 11th, 2013
CCP Nullarbor wrote:(...)FoxFour and myself have been getting into deep design discussion about the future of Planetary Conquest which we hinted at in the last developer blog. Splitting the ISK earning from clones and creating a demand in EVE for a new commodity is going to be key to getting EVE players to care about what happens in PC. The CPM and CSM have also been speaking together about this very topic and we have some, lets say interesting, plans to make PC a little more open and "sandbox like" as well as unique from instant battles.
For now though, we will be watching to see if these changes are enjoyed by those corps who want to put in the effort required to play in the deep end of the pool. Source: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1045792#post1045792
Posted on July 9th in Dev Blog titled: BALANCING THE CONQUEST OF PLANETS
CCP FoxFour wrote:(...)While there is no release date or schedule for this stuff here are some things we are actively working towards: - Separating clones from being the profit maker in Planetary Conquest.
- Introducing a new "thing" to do that generates resources which EVE players care about.
- Said thing should be something anyone else can come and interrupt, preventing your generation of resources and taking it for themselves.
- Separating the battles that conquer planets from the battles that generate resources.
- Building the EVE link by letting EVE players move resources for DUST players.
Again I cannot stress enough that there is no schedule for the above stuff, no designated order for what will be released first, but those are the things we are talking about and trying to work towards for Planetary Conquest. I also want to reinforce that we will be continuing to watch how Planetary Conquest goes, continue to monitor graphs, numbers, database stuff, logs, and all the assorted things relating to this feature to help us continue balancing in the future. This is not a balance pass then walk away until new features thing. This is something we will continue to monitor and iterate on. Summary: The future is awesome!(...) well I cant speak for all caldari....but I for one agree massively with this , the idea was being thrown around in squad chat with the corp the other day. not one person was opposed to the idea in my corp , and so far not one person here seems opposed either. This would add that personal feel to PC...you know what youre defending because you've been there a lot , you've trained there and met there.its yours so youll fight hard.
training would be excellent there , all new members to corps could get oriented to the corp members and tactics, and just generally get used to dust.

I definitely agree, this was originally what I thought they implied when CCP first announced districts. This small feature can be useful for a whole plethora of things, it'll be an unreasonable amount of fun for district holding corporations and will also be incentive for other corps to claim districts as well.

This is a really good idea! It would be kinda fun if corps would have to pay a rental fee if they want to do this (unless later on in the future when corps can own planets, they'll use only the planet at their disposal). Also, there should be sort of "goodies" or "toys" available, so a custom corp match would have same tank skirmishes, cool load outs, and training vehicles. This could make corps not only a fighting force, but also a "gladiator fighting ground" or "racing tournaments" for Eve and Dust players to place bets on (a fun little thing for Dust and Eve players to do when they're bored), an academy for new Dusters to learn how to fly that ghastly drop ship or that LAV, or when corporations can create items, for them to introduce them and display them through shooting galleries and test fights, where that slightly seasoned but still fresh Duster can taste that savory proto suit, and a chance for that seasoned player to say "Do commando suits still suck?".
This could bring revenue for corporations, for example:
"Welcome to Dropship Academy. Ever wanted to help your fellow mercs' with air superiority but you just don't know how to let those wings soar? Attend a class of Dropship Acadamy and we'll show you how! Dropships provided! Fees range from 100,000 isk for a beginner lesson, to 200,000 for more advanced!"
Or....
"You know what it's like to be a Dust soldier, you've died a thousand times, but killed a thousand more mercenaries too. You also know that you're not the only one. So what's the difference between you and the other soldiers? Doesn't hurt to see that difference. FROM THE ONE'S THAT BROUGHT YOU "2014'S HARDCORE LAV RACE" AND "THE MINJA TOURNAMENTS", COMES "2014'S ALL OUT FIGHT NIGHT". TEST. YOU'RE. MIGHT. Entry fees 40,000 isk each, brought to you by Colosseum Entertainment".

Whadya think? nice, you might wanna join the thunderdome. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=107598&find=unread
Oh I have seen some gameplay! :) I can only play on the weekends, but when I can, I'm pretty devoted. I usually play seriously, but when I get some extra fun time, I'll play around there. Thunderdome is really what inspired me to do the gladiator combat. There should be this since it will make a better connection between Eve and Dust. Dust players will now not only be merceneries but "esports" players, or a sort of tag line "Dust Games". Where Dust soldiers can compete in gladiator games, capture the flag, free for all, etc, games. Eve and Dust players can watch and place bets, support and advertise players and get a portion of their check, and advertise for them.
This will still make Eve players think that Dust is just "a petty source of entertainment", but none the less strengthen the connection, and improve the "Dust" experience to Dusters. Later on Dust players could be more useful for setting up mines, securing areas, cleaning up spaces, and maybe even fly with Eve players and be body guard for them! What do you guys think? |

These are all great ideas!
But lets take it one step at a time and see if this threads idea can be implemented first, we need districts to mean something when owned and the best part about it is there are people like you who will use the tool creatively!
Give this to us CCP i dont think it'd be too much of a hassle to implement |

Yep, but first, BABY STEPS! Just a headsup and a message that you guys might have on the back burner, but I'd like to emphasize to keep whining to a minimum. I know this is all great stuff, and I am really looking forward to this game! I want to see it thrive with Eve, I want to see Eve thrive with it! If Dust does good, so does Eve, Eve Valkyrie, and the other fun time's a comin'! So in order to do good....like I said- baby steps. We need to start small, custom map skirmishes that have no impact on isk, sp, aurom, but you can only use certain loadouts, basic loadouts or "fake" gear. |

Something as simple as loading up the map of your district to jump into can have soooooo many uses, even more than I can think of or whats posted in the OP.
If they implemented us and allowed the members to join either the Defending or Attacking side (which should directly correspond to where the actual defenders and attackers start their spawns in a real PC game) and have internal corp battles EVERYDAY! ANYTIME!
Oh god that would be great, just make sure that no ISK is gained from any of these internal district uses that way it cant be used for exploits of any kind.
INTERNAL CORP BATTLES, HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE.
really cool I say

I skimmed through the responses and I do see a lot of the people in alliances that hold territory in molden heath.
My only thing is.. what about the other 80% of the player base that do not hold any districts in PC? smaller corps usually cannot afford the cost of getting into PC. and many new players are in NPC corps.
If CCP was to implement this, while also having a number of planets that are in systems that have Concord stations ( such as yulai ) as free (low cost) neutral training zones so that anyone in any corp/alliance can also benefit from the in game training and practice then yes I can say +1
If it is kept as a you must have a district in the very broken PC aspect of the game, then no.
This kind of idea of a training ground has been suggested by a lot of people. But for it to be viable and not result in a mountain of forum threads calling for it to be removed from the game it has to be inclusive for the entire player base, and not just for the few.

Definitely agreed but I wrote this at the time when more of a majority of players and corps were active in PC, not the doughnut we have now.
I would suggest a fix for PC first before implementing this idea but I do want to keep it exclusive to district owners to give people incentive to get into PC. It would be a tool available to corps who really wanted to get into PC and improve their team play and strategies

lol.. wow yes I just looked at the OP date.
Then I would hold off saying yes until 2 things is done
1) remove the insane isk farming from clones from locked districts (which is in the works) 2) do not implement until all lowsec systems can be conquered in PC, as you said it should be an incentive and as it is PC is a deterrent in how broken it is.
and for anyone not in PC or not interested in PC, then PVE will have to offer a form of training ground for newer players and smaller corps to have a chance to enter into PC

Perhaps this would be a good idea for when PC2.0 gets implemented. I would love to jump in a map at my convenience to explore possible strategies etcetc
It would be a nice form of Defenders advantage as well when you can know every nook and cranny of the district that you own

I can see this being a wonderful little touch onto the game... hell, even as just something to waste time in and blow off some steam, it would also be great for allowing people to test out new fitting ideas, weaponry, and vehicles with out the pressure of having to worry about your experimentation being completely boned by a Troll-squad of protos pulling up in an LAV and doing horrible things to you.
It does also offer good training options for corps accepting newer players, since it would give them a safe(ish) environment to get used to the basics and learn tactics for certain maps that they otherwise wouldn't be able to really learn due to the extremely low life span of the average newbie on the field.
