Nonsense!
That said, most people tend to ping me on skype since it's a hell of a lot easier than playing forum tag.
While it's true I'm not 'full time' scout, that doesn't mean they aren't dear to my heart and I'm not utterly crushed at the uselessness of my beloved pink suits :(
However, the question "What is the CPM going to do" is moot. CCP has never flat out asked us "Well, what should we do about this?" when it comes to anything related to balance. Honestly? Nor should they. Even though I pride myself on being as objective and unbiased as possible, no one is completely without bias. It is my honest belief that I am the only one on the CPM with the proper mindset for fair balancing, and as arrogant as that sounds, I know that such things are not why I am on the council. With the amount of conflicting opinions on the CPM and given SP paths of each member being massively different, it would be a horrible move for CCP to come to us and let us dictate balance in almost any fashion. As a council, we agreed at the very start of our term that pretty much any balance discussion should be forwarded to the players in the forum of a sticky, rather than CCP coming to us. This is something CCP has not really accomplished, despite our constant urgings that they take up CCP Fozzie and Rise's shining examples. Balance is something that should never be decided behind the closed doors of an NDA. Changes should be proposed and discussed with the entire playerbase prior to being locked in.
I suppose the question isn't entirely moot, actually. We can impress the uselessness or brokenness of certain things and ask them what they are going to do about them, and why people are perceiving them as useless/broken and what their expectations of X item are. This is why forums and skype are excellent resources and we openly welcome people to barrage us with such opinions. That IS why the council exists to filter through and exercise judgement in bringing those opinions to CCP. |

Pardon me while I pull your fellow CPM members from underneath the bus where you just threw them.

What bus? :)
Everyone has their strengths. In order to properly conceive fair balance, one needs to be able to put an almost freakish amount of thought into the consequences of any action, and predict the ripple effect it will have as best they can. Not everyone is good at this. It's not an insult to say someone isn't good at it, any more than IWS would be insulting the rest of us by saying he's the only one on the CPM with any artistic talent whatsoever :) (IWS is a pretty damn decent artist, for what it's worth)
Like I said. None of us were chosen to be balance wizards, despite any aptitude that may or may not exist among us. We're not on the council for that. We've all agreed to do our best to shunt any discussion of balance away from us and towards the community whenever possible, like I said in my first post here :)

Thank you for posting nova knife, could you please try and bust CCPs metaphorical balls on communicating with the forums about scouts more? I already know people quitting who are scouts because of CCPs lack of really anything to do with them. |

As for me I have to wait to see what Team Kong has in plan for scouts and base their choices in improvement matches player sentiment of what is lacking with scouts. |

Are they making any progress with those developments? Someone said "maybe 1.5 but probably later" for those changes... any changes made to give us hope it'll be out in 1.6?
The scout players know what scouts need... though many people on the forums like to reiterate our opinions much in the fashion of a children's game of telephone. then there are people who have never skilled into the scouts, neither their much better pre-uprising suits nor their current more-customized variants.
Though 1.4 has helped Gallente Shotgun Scouts out quite a bit, more than anything the biggest problems scouts face is still hit-detection with the shotgun (better than before but still has big issues), hit-detection with nova-knives (almost no improvements) and server stability. Lag is the most deadly enemy now. |

If there was any updates I wouldn't be able to share them until CCP Wolfman or CCP Remnant or even CCP Frame & CCP CmndWang posted them. |

Thing is though its not our job to fix anything, we don't have access to developer tools or anything, we have to work with the developers and pick their brains on what they think and either support or counter the line of thought.
As for what is going on in the game there is a paradigm shift going on and its hard to tell what is going to work out or not and people are still shifting their play styles to the new environment. It would be awful if we do something RIGHT NOW and the shift continues to finding out an over powered game aspect that was buffed in the scout suit. This is what lead to things like the shotgun becoming overpowered back in the older days. |

With the stronger AA and the reduced speeds on the field the game has shifted from a call of duty game to more of a rainbow 6 game in terms of engaging the enemy. People are now playing cover to cover, playing in measured movements, and taking things slower. At 1.4s drop quite a few players where like saying 'oh go full tank' in just oder to survive. However this week we're seeing an entire abandonment of that ideal an people are shifting back to kit kats, damps, sebos, and other modules that have little to do with the tank.
That's been my observation so far. Next week i fear its going to shift again but probably be more stabilized in terms of things being tried out. |
