For good players and little easier for new ones? Its just leveled things out but gear and skill still work.
If anyone comes from the dark souls camp they probably get bored of stomping several infantry at once with impunity. Keeps things exciting I think. However if it needs adjusted or how much I dont know. Have not tested enough yet but ao far dust has just upped its base level difficulty for most players but giving a slight buff to noobs. Is that bad? |

I haven't tested it enough to truly say one way or the other, but I'm inclined to think it's generally fine.
I'll be running tests later to see just how drastic aim assist is, when I was playing it didn't seem to be much of a difference though, I killed a ton of **** while staying relatively untouched, but I was using my militia AR fatty.
I would imagine the HMG was hurt the most by this since it's so damn easy to hit heavies now, and they don't have the luxury of dictating point of engagement. |

Aim assist is fine, but when you start talking about aimbot aim assist where your controls are yanked out of your hand, whats the point in playing? Keep heading this direction and you might as well put down the controller and watch the game play itself.
The aimbot we have now is like driving, except when you need to make a turn, the computer yanks the wheel out of your hands because it thinks you arent good enough for minute adjustments so it does the work for you. |

I'm going to be playing AR514 with everyone else after this patch.
if aim bot is the proper answer to the question "what's wrong with aiming", then switching to AR's is the proper answer to "what will you do if aimbot sticks around?" |

While the aim-assist may be a tad too good, I think it pushes the game in a good direction. Cover has become prime real estate with 1.4. You can't strafe back and for whilst jumping in open and expect to come out on top of most fights now.
The other thing people are forgetting is that scanning changes have inflated a lot of the better players scores. Good players use their eyes and know the maps. You are getting the drop on even more players now that they can't just check out your red blip coming toward them from behind a building. I know I put up some ridiculous scores that, while not rare for me last patch, have been more frequent after 1.4. That's coming from a heavy who "can't be missed" with the new "aim-bot." |

I take it you normally go 8/5 or something, and autoaim now makes you a John Woo action star?
Match results are meaningless without a basis for comparison. I've gone 42/2 with HMG and 22/0 with Militia Forge Gun before. Those are what you call "outlier samples".

I agree and I'm a scout - I'm not one for arguing on Internet forums, but while I haven't extensively studied the impact of all the changes in 1.4 (like the slower strafe and improved hit detection a lot of people forget about in these threads), It does feel like no one is willing to admit they relied on wonky aiming, poor hit detection and broken strafe speeds to help pad their KDR. These 'broken' mechanics forced the game to be played a certain way. The rules of dust are changing and and some 'vets' that played the old way seem to have trouble adapting.
I totally take on you point about tac-net changes - by my third game it was obvious the game has taken a different pace. As a Gallente scout who used active scanners anyway, it's obvious to me a lot of players relied on the red chevrons to pop up, and rather consider how they are going to engage the reds, they'd run in head first relying on their 'gun game', which a for lot of people meant (including myself I guess) 'hyper' counter strafing, bunny hopping etc.
I used to get f'ed in the A if I get caught in the open by more than one red, now it'll be just the one that f's me - however now I feel my gathering of intel and consideration of approach for each and every encounter is less likely to be negated by random hit detection nonsense.
I suppose I'll try and play consistently with 'aim-bot' on and see how big of a deal it is - I don't assume everything in these threads is just QQ. |

I had a blast last night. I thought the gameplay was a lot more fun. Especially the face to face combat was different. No so much pray n spray as it used to be. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it plays out. |

Honestly this does seem to be a significant argument I'm hearing. I've lost count of how many times someone has posted '...and even someone with a MLT AR killed me (proof of brokenness!!!)!'.
I didn't think the level of entitlement of proto users (since again, people forget that having lv5ops and proficiency doesn't mean you only benefit when using duvolles...) was that strong until 1.4. |

Agree with the aimbot sentiment, toooo many scrub-diddly-ubs running around with TACs they would never use otherwise just blastin' away.
It is a bit more challenging but I enjoy the extra challenge and earning my kills |
