For the first time, I can see myself really starting to get into DUST now. The maps are superb and the moods splendid (the earth-like planet with moon mood made my corpmates and I gasp with awe). For the first time I actually feel like I'm playing in New Eden and not just maps (if that makes any sense).
The new shield and armor sounds add a lot to the immersion as well. The glass shattering of shields and the "thunk thunk" of armor damage means I don't have to constantly glance at my health and can actually focus on the target I'm engaging that is also engaging me.
The loss of shared vision has lead to a rise in scanners and is starting to show the beginnings of EWAR tactics. I personally have dropped some points into profile dampening because of the changes and love how the almost required use of scanners makes the game feel more "sci-fi" as it should.
The new searching for battle screen also adds some immersion as well. No longer does playing an instant match feel like...well....playing an instant match. When the animation searches the regions, then system, then planet, then shows the actual planet you'll be fighting on, it actually feels like you've been assigned a contract (at least for me) and that your fight has some purpose. The only way to make this even better is if EVE players handed down contracts themselves.
Overall, good job CCP, 1.4 was a step in the right direction and the game is starting to feel like more of a contender against other FPS games. For example, the new maps with the new Gallente sockets feel VERY Halo-esque and brought about good vibes.
+1 CCP.

joining in on a love thread.
i agree on the immersion, the new map[s, the ewar (dampening and scanners are apart of everyday life now wich is amazing!!!)
when i told my corpies they could actually see what planet we were fighting on in high sec they were all super excited and were watching it.
theres so many new dimentions in gameplay now, warfare has changed.
aka the metagame just got shaken up huge! and after all the hate for the bugs goes away people will realise that 1.4 was really an amazing improvement |

Let me blow your mind: you were fighting ON A MOON in orbit of that Earth-like planet. *boom*

Agree with this 100% Actually, the first match I played after 1.4 was a night match, and it was SO COOL seeing the light flares from my team firing. It felt very real and really like I was shooting at night. Definitely give props to CCP for the "immersion" changes this patch. |

Those sound effects when under fire.... awww yeah.
In all, I really can't say anything bad about 1.4. As expressed in my thread, almost everything seems to have been done right. |

I loved everything about this patch. From the new levels, to the new matchmaking screen, to the HIT DETECTION HOLY SEX THAT'S LOVELY. I mean seriously, my rifle works now! The brushed up graphics, the awesome new sounds, and the muzzle flash. Did I mention the hit detection? I CAN KILL PEOPLE WITHOUT HAVING TO USE GRENADES/MD'S! I kinda like the shared vision restrictions. Makes some skills matter finally. All in all, 10/10 would bang. |

Oh, and md rounds ARE ON FIRE WHEN YOU SHOOT THEM! Or at least they glow this really cool red. Love it. Should make countering md spam easier since you can follow the trajectory now. |

I actually like the aspiration sound when we die, too, but I don't like the sound we make when getting hit. It doesn't feel right, or maybe the male/female sound effects are just mixed up atm. |

Honestly, apart from the aim assist and hit detection being awful, I'm loving 1.4. |

Apart from Shotguns (confirmed and being fixed supposedly next downtime), and maybe Nova Knives and Burst Scrambler Pistols (not confirmed, as far as I know), hit detection is good. And as mentioned in parentheses, Shotguns are being fixed. |

I'm glad more people are using tge active scanners. When I first used it them, maybe like one or two other people were using it. Now it's like every other match. Just upgraded my scanner to adv. Last night |

Matchmaking is very broken, but is amazing when it works. It's my only complaint of this patch and feel that it should be taken out and improved for 1.5. |

I played last night from 11pm EST to 2am EST. It's possible they tweaked it at down time or maybe lower player numbers screws with the matchmaking algorithm. Either way, if it was fixed somehow than disregard my post and replace it with: This patch is awesome. |

Lol, yes there is a small patch to download whenever you boot DUST up today that has fixed matchmaking.
This update is indeed awesome. |

I still remember the first match I got into and I was just looking at the stuff instead of actually playing the game. I got myself an LAV and just drove around and through the buildings not even caring about the battle itself. The new LAV cam was super nice too, almost cinematic like I was watching a video and not playing a game.
You don't know how long it has been since I last did that...maybe Final Fantasy 12/13, or Metroid Prime. Just....wow. I already liked this game, and this update blew it out of the water for me. |

Lol, right? I saw it take off, and it scared me, thought my game was bugged. Then the round landed and blew up a dude. My smile could not have gotten bigger. Could we get some color options? maybe some rainbow glitter effects? NOW PEOPLE SHALL DIE FABULOUS DEATHS AT THE HANDS OF MY MD! |

After the update this morning every thing besides shotgun hit detection is awesome! Speaking of shotguns, have they always sounded like someone kicking a kickball? |

Yes, it is the pneumatic shock coils inside the weapon that is keeping the recoil from tearing your character's arm off, that is the POING sound you are hearing. |
