I'm just curious why the aim assist is as strong as it is now. Any decent FPS gamer who could have tested it for you would have told you it is too strong. It's a complete slap in the face to vets who take the time to learn aiming mechanics. So please, enlighten us on why aim assist is as absurd as it is now?
Were people really having that hard a time aiming? I honestly never heard any complaints about actual aiming in this game after you guys tuned the values. Hit detection was another story, and thankfully those issues were resolved for the most part. But you guys seemed to take it one step further and decided to make it ridiculously easy for everyone to have perfect aim that now this game has turned into a battle of stats. Speed and acrobatics have been completely thrown out the window because the aim assist has all-but-perfect tracking on moving targets. |

To counter that... I actually use aim assist and do not feel as strong to me. I did pretty well without it before this patch too. |

This is going to be reported as a spam soon, 80% of these threads came from you. To be honest I don't mind it, as long as it shuts the PS3 players up. It might take a while to get used to how the mouse actually works properly now but we'll get used to it, taking aim assist off is just going to make the PS3 community moan how we have a big advantage blah blah ect, and therefore they might even kick our kind. |

I notice a difference between using it and not, now, but to be honest it is not a game breaking difference for me, and have turned it off. My numbers haven't been hurt much by doing this, and I'm still doing better than last build. |

I think people might be blaming aim assist for hit detection improvements. (Don't quote me on this) |

Just because you were doing alright when the game was broken doesn't mean it didn't need to be fixed.
That said, this also doesn't mean that the game is "fixed". It means we need to play it out, make actually constructive threads and posts on the issues, and help CCP gather up non emotional data so they can make adjustments from there.
I only feel bad for scouts, anyone else who was speed tanking was doing it because hit detection and aim assist were broken, and were looking for artificial advantages to boost their performance. (or for the lulz, in which case, nothing is stopping you) |

At first I thought the aim assist must've been terribly active considering I was dying to militia variants yesterday a lot more than normal.
I've not come the the conclusion that improved hit detection coupled with the aim assist is probably why my survivability has suffered. I only come to this conclusion because aim assist doesn't seem to be assisting me very much. So I can only guess that its not as prevelant as I initially thought it was.
On the other hand, plenty of other people have said they don't feel like they have to aim much anymore. Countered by those like me that say they don't notice as much, so I'll take the wait and see approach for now. |

Also, references to "speed and acrobatics" likely refers to strafing and bunnyhopping. Just say it for what it is and stop trying to embellish it. Would you have rathered them nerf jumping altogether? Perhaps make it take all of your stamina bar? CCP could have made you easier to hit you or nerfed your ability to jump, which, of course, would have had more ripple effects with clearing obstacles, etc. They chose the former. Don't forget: you have the same aim assistance that everyone else does, so you're on a level playing field, unless you were a MD spammer, which I think is equally likely, especially given the references to "acrobatics."

With all the complaints about supposedly godlike aim assist, I was expecting to die horribly and often the moment I walked into Skirmish as a scout (on Manus Peak, no less).
I didn't, despite sprinting through multiple firefights and actually fighting a couple others.
Far from conclusive, of course, but from the complaints I expected to be one little scout-shaped plasma burn, or maybe a shadow permanently seared onto a wall. Is there, perhaps, a wee bit of hyperbole at work, here? |

I don't play a lot of FPS on console but isn't aim assist a standard feature nowadays? I know it may be a bit strong and it needs some tweaking but a lot of people who try dust may be turned off by the lack of aim assist. |

The aim assist doesn't help with minor corrections to fine point aiming... it literally is toggled aim bot at this point. You press LDS while generally looking in the direction of your target.. BOOM BOOM headshot headshot.... no aiming no tracking the target with skill the computer does it for you.
If thats how you want to play a first person shooter... where a computer aims for you and it makes you think everyone else had poor aim... i'm confused to think you people aren't a bunch of people who want an "easy" mode for DUST 514
If your goal is to have people running around toggling a near perfect toggled aim button and playing a whos aimbot has more hitpoints game.... then this is going to become a game everyone plays for an hour and moves on.
the gun game in Chromosome made people play this game until downtime reminded them that they needed sleep. This patch has even made even the defenders of CCP's aimbot rage quit atleast once. |

LDS? What's LDS??? Do you mean ADS?
Anyway.... If you do... Aim assist is only there for hipfire, when you are ADS YOU are aiming.
I haven't even noticed the aim assist in the few games I've played - unlike the 'drag' in Chromosome. |

Quote:Unfortunately for you I actually use KB/M as my main input.
- Prior post from OP
I find KB/M players complaining about strong aim assist rather funny. Meta perhaps. However, yes the OP is correct that the strong aim assist does significantly impact speed tanking.
In my opinion this is all a result of CCP's decision to try to have both input methods as standard options and as a result has touched the proverbial "third rail" of gaming (metaphor for any issue so controversial that it is "charged" and "untouchable") that most developers have avoided for good reason.
Finding balance between the two will be difficult and perhaps impossible without gimping one side or the other.
