With this new match making system, faction warfare no longer serves the purpose it did before.
If you want to fight only on the Amarr side in battles to help your buddies in EVE, too bad. It's a 50/50 chance you'll be put on either Amarr or Minmatar, even if the Minmatar option is unchecked. Same with Gilante/Caldari.
This change completely removes the entire purpose that Faction Warfare served before, which was to help your friends in EVE do stuff up in space. No longer can we actually attempt to flip planets one way or the other, without leaving numerous battles and searching for more in hopes that we'll be put on the side we want.
While this doesn't really affect us all that much, since at the moment faction warfare is pretty irrelevant to Dust, with 1.4, every reason we had to fight in FW battles has been stripped out. We can't fight for the side we want and we can't stack squads any more for PC practice. These changes have made faction warfare no different than standard pub matches, and I for one would like to see it changed to where we can limit ourselves to only fighting for one side again. |

Nope, no squad, I was playing solo just checking out how well the fixes to the matchmaker turned out. I had no problem finding matches, but out of the 7 or 8 I tried, in at least half of them it would stick me on the wrong team, even when there were still slots left on the side I had said i wanted to be on. |

I gave this a try, but first I joined 10 faction warfare battles to get a baseline for how often it put me on the wrong side. All of my testing was done between 2:30 and 3:10, EVE time.
Using just the Amarr selection, I was put on the Minmatar side twice.
Then I followed your advice, I unchecked all the options (Amarr had been the only one checked) and closed the window. I then re-opened the battle finder and checked Amarr and began searching for FW contracts again.
Out of 10 battles, it put me on the Minmatar side twice, again, so there was no change. |

I laughed. It's fitting, but even if that worked, it's something the game should do automatically, we shouldn't have to open and close a window to make our changes to matchmaker settings work. |
