To be honest, I'm surprised my dropsuit doesn't have auto-shoot as well. I mean it's seriously high-tech body armour.
I'll admit that I haven't played 1.4 (I'm planning on returning around 1.6/1.7) but wouldn't this aim assist highlight the importance of taking cover, using blueberries as bait, and bring out glorious flanking maneuvers because there will be more clearly defined front lines to flank?
Ally TACNET sharing is disabled too, so flanking without being detected is certainly a viable option. Hit from the sides/back; auto-aim doesn't work all 360 degrees, I hope.
I think adaptability is the second strongest trait of human beings, the first being complaining about having to adapt. |

Either tone it down or give all suits even more HP on shields and armor to rebalance it. I think the armor is good now and so is shields. Maybe they give everyone more base HP on their dropsuits which in turn would lessen the gap between proto and the other non proto suits. Hence less pub stomping. You would pay a lot for a little but it would make you spend your isk more wisely or they could up all plates and extenders which would broaden the gap between proto and the other suits and make it more worth the isk. |

I can fit exactly the same HP on my advanced as on my proto. Proto suits just allow to fit better weapons and equipment.

I feel rather embarrassed for some of my fellow mouse using brethren to be honest. Mouse controls are just about right now, and still superior to sticks. Sensitivity has changed though, and ADS is no longer a sensitivity toggle (which is good), so most mouse users will have to adapt before getting their usual gungame back.
For months now we have been telling stick users to HTFU or learn to use a mouse. All this whining just shows who relied on their mouse advantage as a crutch IMO. If sticks are superior now then we should just switch to it or HTFU. But I bet most everyone will stick with their mouse (like I do) because it's still superior.
What you see now in terms of TTK is nothing you couldn't have encountered before against a team of competent mouse users. The only hard change is the reduced strafe speed. Maybe it's worth considering putting this back to "normal", since everyone can aim now... Otherwise we'll just have to get used to a more tactical, deliberate gungame. I'll have to get used to it first to really have an opinion on it. Change can always be a little frustrating at first. |

The magnetism is way too strong and makes aiming incredibly easy. There's no "assist " to it but rather "aim control". There's this ridiculous sticky reticle that you get with it that turns this game into a "pick a target and spray". All the elements of tracking targets is thrown out the window because the game does it for you, which completely negates the time good players have invested in learning to aim properly.
It's a sad sad thing really. Now everyone is crying ARs are more OP than ever, along with SMGs and every other spray-and-pray weapon. Aim assist should exist, but not nearly as strong as the state it is in now. It seems CCP doesn' truly understand the whole taking small steps to balance. It's like one day aiming is sorta difficult but easy to overcome and the next it's LOL POINT AND SPRAY. |

I like the new control mechanics as a KBM player. No issue with aim assist, it just brings controllers closer to an even level. I'd wager the good controller users have it turned off by preference and are still more dangerous than AA users.
1.4. is a step in the right direction. The framerate issues still hurt KBM aim a lot, but it's much closer to Chromosome than it was before. |

Aim assist doesnt make skill, good players will be good, bad players will be bad, period. Good points, Assert. We should start thinking about how much aim assist we want for DUST.
I've been playing AR with aim assist off since Mordu's trials, and will continue to play that way for personal reasons.
We're seeing a triple whammy effect in 1.4.
1) Core aiming mechanics are better. Just to be perfectly clear, i'm talking about aiming with aim assist turned off. There is more fine control and more predictable movement of the reticule. Less lag? Less input lag? I dunno but something has changed. I can 'feel' that i'm not fighting the game anymore, and it feels f*cking great.
2) Hit detection is much better(sorry shotties, you gotta wait one more day) for every weapon i've tried. Applied dps has prolly doubled from this alone.
3) The aim assist is aggressive. But it's second day of the patch, we need to give CCP time to collect data, things like adhesion and magnetism are easily adjusted.
How strong should the aim assist be? How do we calibrate it?
My suggestion is this: CCP should keep adjusting Aim Assist until the best DS3 players have similar stats to the best kb/m players.
This is an attractive approach because it's a black box philosophy: The 2 control systems have very different strengths and weaknesses, and anyone who thinks they can analyse and quantify the differences across all circumstances is fooling themselves.
The best approach in situations like this is to look only at the output and compare it to your pre-defined goal.
I believe that pre-defined goal should be parity between the best players in the game. This comes out of the same philosphy that says balancing should be done at only the highes levels of gameplay. It goes a long way to preventing absurd mechanics destroying pub-level gameplay. |

Sorry, but this is bullshit. There is a difference between an input device being easier to pinpoint stuff with in a timeframe (lets say you need 1,5 instead of 2,1 seconds to aim for someones head) and the fact that the DS3 controller makes you hit the head NO MATTER WHERE YOU WERE INITIALLY AIMING!!!
And your second point is just not logical. Bad players will be much better players because now skill comes down to hitting ANY part of a bodypart of an enemy or even just aiming close to it. If the good player aims 1 second faster than the other one, but the bad player gets the same result because he hit his shoot button that 1 second earlier because aim assist just moved his crosshair over the good players head, both have the same chance now.
Just think before you write. Please. |

I competely agree with op i fear people are blowing this way out of proportion and i think that this is mainly coming from people who first thing they did was run out and try to go straight to buisness avoiding fire being consently on the move which seemed to have a negative effect on hit detection as i did only to get mowed down, to be honest i see this as a good thing the game always lacked risk for movement far too much time to run about and get back to cover now being in the open is very risky i like that it adds a reason people have to be aware of surroundings double so with the new tac net system its great. |

An easy fix would be to remove aim assist from hip firing. Or, allow aim assist only for the initial targeting--your first volley would be more accurate, but you would lose that boost as soon as the enemy moves more than a meter or two, rather than constantly following the intended target. |

Aim assist is fine. Look at how few X is overpowered threads we have now. Give it a while and things will probably change but I think they did a good job. The problem was apparently aiming, strafe speed, and hit detection in uprising up til now. If aimbot single handily made the majority of the weapons viable for the majority of the playerbase then it was needed. Now its not just AR and MD being the benchmark for performance and that's a good thing in my opinion. |
