So I've been thinking of trying to do some videos but I don't want to waste money on equipment that is overly complicated or a pain in the a** to set up.
I've never done video capture before (on anything) so there's that.
I wondering what people have had the best luck with or have found to be rock solid in use. Make, model, version etc of equipment.
I have a ps3 slim, LCD HD TV and a dsl connection. (I know I know lol dsl. It works well enough)
This will be for gameplay videos (Dust and a few others). And I will be getting a ps4 after a few months. I know that has the whole share thing but, I'd still like the ability to capture independantly of sony.
Any and all help and advice is appreciated. |

You need a capture card. And they all work the same way in terms of setting up and so on. Personally I'm using a Blackmagic Intensity with PtBi. Dat Anti-Aliasing. |

They all work the same? Cool. You mentioned anti aliasing... Are there any other features I should look for or stay away from for any reason?
Ooooo also, it would capture squad chat as well right? Some of the golden moments in Dust are the comments made... |

you could always mail Lowratehitman, he likes to help the community with his videos and seems to know how, CEOPyrex is another guy, but he has like over 550 mail he hasn't checked, then there's DS 10, A.K.A DSTheDrunkHeavy, and GimbleB games (don't know his in game name), they are all people you can contact who do videos of dust on youtube, hope this helps |

Yeah, they all make some good videos. Didn't want to annoy 'em though. So I thought I'd just annoy those on the forums. ;p
Also have your first like for the character you posted with. |

It captures the game sound. When you use a headset for squad chat on your PS3 then it doesn't capture it. You will encounter this problem with every capture card. THis is a problem with Squad chat itself. Because as soon as your PS3 detects a headset it uses this for squad chat.
The AA is a feature of PtBi, which only works with the blackmagic intensity, and will be processed by the graphic card of your PC. Results are different from game to game. |

Hey man, I am myself a total noob at the whole video deal, having started just last week. I use the Elgato HD because I needed an external device (I had an Avermedia before that but only for three hoursGǪGǪ). In any case, my advice would be to make a list of 2 or 3 cards you are looking at and then go and run YouTube searches on the how-to videos for each. This should give you a good idea on how easy they are to use and you can usually also see the quality of the capture (as people show examples and usually use the cards themselves). |
