It's kind of interesting to see the same community behavior when you check out the forums daily, every patch we get sux balls, everything is OP and the general "this game is doomed" attitude, it's actually better than watching TV, or atleast german TV lol.
It's kind of sad to see this attitude, personally I'm interested in seeing Dust grow, and for sure there has to be criticism, positive and negative, both ways, otherwise this won't work. But this general mood inside the forums is all in all just funny and entertaining, and I just can hope the devs don't let this get to close to their hearts.
Other studios may would be faster in developing the game, others would be maybe better organised, but all in all I'm happy where this is going, I see alot of devs posting daily on the forums, this actually gives me the feeling that we are heard and it puts trust in this project.
All in all Dust is a great game for me and I miss it every second I can't play. and I think most of you guy feel the same, otherwise you would not be here.
I tried alot of games to distract myself from my Dust 514 cold turkey, but all in all I'm very disappointed with every game I picked up so far, everythings way to easy and I believe even my cat could master most of this games, Dust still is somehow a quiet difficult game and definately a challenge for me, reminds me on my old Quak 3 Arena days.
So all in all what I want to say is: don't always look on the negative side, also enjoy the good sides, even if its hard with broken matchmaking and stuff ;)
+1 for a logical and well thought out post.
I tend to agree with you on several parts and I think that if the game get to critical mass it can be a major long term winner for CCP...not a CoD super splash but a steady and healthy source of players for years. Lot of folks thought EVE was a sinking ship for a while but they took the "slow and steady" approach and it worked.
For the record, I think critical mass is deeper connection with EVE in the form of making our actions on the ground more consequential to EVE, legit PVE, and if not a shared economy with EVE at least a Dust basic dust economy (sell/trade gear, and more formal merc contracts we can generate from player to player).
