This is a petition to return the 1.3 camera angle to the dropship. If you are a pilot then I'm sure you know what I'm talking about and if you would like to show support for this please post in this thread with your yea or nay. CCP I think I understand your reasoning. We thank you for trying to make using the turret better, though it has caused more problems than its worth. Please return the 1.3 camera angle to the dropship, either as an option or as the standard.
For those of you who are not pilots and for CCP I will explain.
The new camera angle not only makes flying harder, but also limits the effectiveness of the dropship. Most of my flying was based around seeing my dropship, looking at my angle of attack and watching where my engines were pointed. My take off was based entirely off of these two things.
With the new camera angle I can no longer see half of my dropship when flying, this makes gauging my angle of attack, and my position in the air much harder than it should be. I feel as though I am constantly fighting with the camera the turret and the dropship.
When I attempt to see my dropship from an angle like 1.3 (seeing my engines and the rest of my craft) the engines and AFT section of the dropship completely fills my screen. Also when doing hard banks the camera moves inside of the dropship which almost makes me crash.
Having the camera so close to the front of the dropship has decreased our FOV quite substantially. I can no longer see around my dropship very well, this makes spotting forge gunners and rail tanks almost impossible unless they are directly in front of your dropship. I haven't encountered swarms yet but I know its harder to spot them already. That second when the forge gunner missed or the rail tank came over the hill was enough to save at least 50 of my dropships. I simply cant see them now.
Dropping troops is also really difficult now because we cant really see anything except for whats right in front of us. Since we have to move the entire dropship to look around its less about flying and more about spinning around. I feel like a horse with blinders on.
I have to completely forget about complex maneuvers now and relearn flying all together. This is heart breaking for me as I know I will never be as good or effective as a pilot as I was with the other camera view. All those months of becoming a good pilot have now been for not and I have to start again from scratch at more of a disadvantage
please return the old camera CCP, please give me my wings back....

We just had a TWENTY MINUTE match with 5-6 assault dropships all fighting eachother. Nobody could stay on or hit any of the other pilots. All good pilots... Camera is BORKED I was in that match, and I couldn't score a kill on you or your teammates for the life of me. I will also attach my name to this cause. Yeah was chaos for sure. When in massive air battles you need a large field of view. A couple times I almost crashed into you or one of your team mates simply because I couldn't see. I'm not a novice pilot, though I sure felt like one trying to hit your dropships. Flying with condor squadron was really amazing, having so many pilots working together gave us quite the edge in battle. If we tried that now, Nguruthors IX and I both agree that it just wouldn't work. We would just end up crashing into each other by mistake. I got broadsided pretty hard by a MLT gallente ship before I could even react. |

Good to know some pilots like this. Played a 12 v 4 and experimented with low flying, was pretty good for maneuvering through obsticlas. Maninly because there was no AV to speak of. Over all I find that all the roles I've found for the dropship have been gimped. Amazing what such a little change can do |

Camera is BORKED I still manage to Kill my opposing dropship even with the angle, i fly smoother with it for some reason but maybe a tad less zoom so we aren't looking up the bum of our dropships PS:I Like the camera angle just not the up the bum view Might be because they Might have nerfed the speed of assault dropships LOL they are actually faster, and they gain speed faster, more mobility as well The smooth flying is leaned towards the sway of the camera and more stability they have It does feel like the speed has been decreased. I will have to do more testing. The new camera does have its perks, a lot easier to kill people and I believe that is what they were aiming for. However I would never trade kills for visibility. We have gone from guessing where infantry are under our dropships to guessing where everything else around behind and above our dropships.
I have talked to a few pilots who do like this change, which is why I'm not bitchhing. I do see the advantages to this view, though for my style of flying I would prefer the new camera. This is why I would like an option for both |

CCP Wolfman wrote:We'll look in to getting this sorted out guys. Thank you Wolfman I appreciate the response. I would like to thank you again for trying this out, I do see the advantages of having the camera at the front of the ship. Though I have been learning with the other camera angle for a year. So far I've lost more dropships in two days than I have in two months! Swarms are very hard to see with out my FOV. It would be great if you could make an option to have either of the angles. Besides this I am loving 1.4! keep up the great work and thank you for listening to our feed back! |

Only make camera changes on Standard/Logistics Dropships, the new camera view for Assault Dropships is needed. I can't see what direction to turn my gunners or what they should be looking at which is terrible for synergy. If I can't line up shots for my gunners then they are both bored and useless. *And before someone comes in here with the "realism" argument about god knows what remember that even automobiles have side and back mirrors, and in some cases even cameras. 1.3 third person is a representation of the awareness any vehicle like this would have, without needing to have multiple screens displaying mirrors or cameras to a first person flight simulator. Also we can't see our gunners health bars with this, so they have to keep track of it now. I use to be able to see their health, and take evasive for them while they were concentraiting on kills. Now I have no idea. |

thank you all for your support. I'm glad so many other pilots feel the same as I do. Wolfman said he would get everything sorted out and I trust his word. Really happy they are listening to our feedback on this! |
