good try CCP, its appreciated, I personally thought it was a bad idea and wouldn't work, and its not...
I think all the matchmaking QQERS realize it now as well.
so good try, thanks you sure showed them the error of their matchmaking requests.
now lets get back to killing each other instead of waiting forever to get in a match.
thanks. |

there was no old matchmaking....I understand proto stomping sucks, I don't have a good solution to it, but this clearly isn't it... |

Geovexen wrote:gear restriction is lame. matchmaking based on squad matches determined by average SP, then solo players matched with players of relatively matching SP is good. Two players of 1mil sp attack each other, even if one player has a duvolle, you know he has a crap tank, likewise a militia weapon user probably has good equips or armor/shields.
what makes matchmaking lame is two things:\ 1. it takes too damn long to get to a match. looks like my grinding for SP is gonna be a chore now. 2. I have to hope and pray i get the gamemode i want instead of it queuing me for the game mode i want. wth CCP? what game in history has ever made you get random gamemodes?
all of this is too complicated, yes it looks good on paper but implementing it in a live fire situation wont work
basing it on sp disenfranchises whatever sp group is at low pop at any particular time of the day and having matches based on gear will make certain tiers suffer the same low population... just not enough people play right now to have any good matchmaking solution except to have no match making... |

It would work better than anything we've had so far. Say a MLT player can't find a battle in the MLT group. They just change their search parameters to meet the STD or ADV class as well. Then they won't get Protostomped at least.
and what if he picked militia because he cant yet run adv etc etc... then he gets screwed
also what if just one piece of gear, say an armor repper is adv and everything else is standard?... its to complicated and puts to much restriction on fittings to be fun |

CLONE117 wrote:then the militia player can jump into the std area..
the way the restriction is set would have a few cons but dont all things have pros and cons?..
and im sure that adv armor repper can be swaped out for a cheap std armor repper...
that's not the point though... the point is its too many restrictions, sure the militia guy can jump into an std, but what if everyone is playing adv? sure the guy can swap out the armor repper but that means making a whole new suit with all std gear, one with all adv gear one with all militia gear... instead of one suit mixed... it seriously restricts players... I for example run an all bp logi suit with 1 set of std remotes and 1 set of adv remotes... so this means I cant run my adv remotes? why? its just not sensible for a game with so many gear choices to then restrict you for a match... a better choice would be to toggle matchmaking I guess....
let those who want it to run it and those who don't to not. |

CLONE117 wrote:we would still have the mixed areas..
but the matchmaking parameter would just end up being increased..
plus its possible to edit fitting and swap out the gear..
u dont always have to make an entirely new fitting...
u may have to spend more trying to create a fitting for the lower tiers if u r already running high tiered fittings.. or mixed fittings..
the instant battle: mlt-proto would basically be the same as the current game modes we have now..so this type of gear restriction would allow for m4 flexibility in a few ways...and place players onto more even playing fields..it would also allow the newer players enough time to learn how to play... and they will be able to get into tiered areas when they think they r ready...its not that complex if u think about it...
you will have no argument from me that right now for new players the game can be extremely unfriendly... but I don't think matchmaking fixes that for them, but it does suck for everyone else...
for new players, the academy is the right direction, but its far from perfect and needs more tweaking... the idea should be to make the game inviting to new players while making the game enjoyable for vets.... this matchmaking does neither....
and lets be honest, proto stomping doesn't happen to any of us all the time, and with a little attention paid to who youre up against in the war barge you could leave a gaurunteed stomp easy. |
