The dropship camera rides too close to the ship and is really touchy. I suspect the latter stems from the fact that the camera has more swing, from full over to full under the ship. I'm not sure why we would need to look straight up at the bottom of the ship.
The new camera significantly reduces the pilot's situational awareness making it difficult to fly and nearly impossible to see and avoid AV.
Wolfman, please prioritize situational awareness when you work on the dropship camera. Student pilots are trained to put their head on a swivel and be aware of everything around them. I feel claustrophobic while flying and that's the opposite of what should happen in the sky!
The new aim-bot has significantly reduced my time-to-die. The AR advocates who used to claim that the AR is a skill weapon while the MD is not will have to own up to this. The AR is now a noob weapon and so far exceeds the MD in DPS that it is no contest. I'm going to have to switch to the AR myself to compete. The HMG seems to have gotten a similar buff as my strafing/running didn't have any effect today.
Matchmaking. Yeah, it's totally borked. Several matches of 16 vs. 0, and once my squad got dumped into a lost domination. We came 2nd-5th, but there was no way we could turn it around in time.
On the other hand, the startup screen is nice and the "last match" screen let's me check my bonus SP pool without having to run another match. The new maps are cool. |

The current camera is beyond terrible for a thousand reasons. And everyone agrees
CCP should make a useful First Person View for the dropship. Think of the bubble canopy of a light helicopter where you have an almost unlimited view. This could be a helmet projection from hull mounted cameras so they wouldn't have to change the art assets at all. Situational awareness is so important to a dropship that this would be the first order of business for any dropship designer no matter the race.
You could have a static 180 degree view, but I've got one better. Let dropship pilots add a cheap set of USB rudder pedals for yaw control (just like in every real aircraft) and the Right stick is now available for a full "look stick". Pilots can scan the sky, and the good ones will know what's going on around them.
I know you can't make them mandatory, but all deducted pilots would love you if you made it a control option. You already support unconventional (for the console) controls, so there's no reason not to.
These changes would make dropship truly unique and fun to fly |

Yes!
Set it back to the old way when I have my repair tool out. |
