I also will be running straight BPOs until the aim assist is lessened. This is terrible and there is no point in being good if a noob can artificially fight above his weight class due to a computer aiming for him.
Infantry are starting to suffer from the same symptoms tanks are suffering from where we have all this cool stuff we COULD put on our tanks to make them unique and do cool things but in the interest of surviving more than 2 seconds simply cant.
It is simply a race to hipfire DPS at ADS ranges and a lot more fittings in 1.4 are simply brick fits meant to take one or two more shots than the other guy in hopes of killing him before he kills you.
This guy i have been squadding with for a couple days now has been MELTING multiple heavies in a single clip with his GEK and facepalms the entire time while he does it.
never seen so many AR heavies before |

yes, it was nice to not have to go to the skill page to level up, but at the same time i was always bothered by the clutter. I don want to scroll through lists of skills just to find the item im looking for |

CCP, some russian players caught the overreaching aim assist on video and it is in a thread on GD. Please look at it and see why people are complaining about it. Aim assist should never aim for you and it has really messed things up. |

1.4 update seems like insult to gamepad's users. Mouse have no more limits, gamepad still have slow speed as if specially do for ret-Śrded people. CCP told this almost directly "we are made new, great Aim Assist for this ret-Śrded gamepad users, because all of you are too slow to handle high sensitivity". [emotion mode off]
We don't need incredible aim assist. We want to play fair. Without cheating aim assist gamepad is useless now. Too slow. You just dont let us even try to compete vs mouse users.
In battlefield 3 i successfully play with sensitivity x3-x4 faster than in dust 514 without any aim assist (i disabled it). But there CCP offer me to forget my skill and use this stupid aim assist only. Just see how Dice made it in bf3 and dont make your own mistakes, learn from succesfull done job.
Solution is easy - increasing max level of sens in x4 and nerf aim assist. With this solution newbies can play on low level on sens, strong players will set maximum.
At start increase maximum cap of speed of gamepad's sensitivity to equal mouse on hip fire. But in zoom mode it must be a little slower than on hip mode.
And, maybe no one will need so strong aim assist. First off, there's supposedly a hard cap on turn speed that mouse users can't break (I havne't personally tested and confirmed this). Secondly, I agree aim assist needs an adjustment downwards in effectiveness. Thirdly, Even before 1.4 happend, CCP confirmed that 1.5 will include the ability to tune hipfire and ADS sensitivity independently of one another. Mouse have good speed for any action, its depend by skill only now. And here is hardware with switchable DPI and macroses... cost 10$ Gamepad is too slow now, i have skill to operate with x3 or x4 faster controls. CCP dont let me it, they just gave me aim assist wich i dont need. Ok, i just dont play this game since 1.3. I hoped about 1.4, but they still think i am cripple with slow reactions. independently tuning is good, when scale of sens for gamepad is from very slow (for newbies) to equal mouse sens. If they will keep current sensitivity difference between mouse and gamepad - it will epic fail.
there will always be third party software that gives those kinds of advantages, like modded controllers. Hell, i have an aiming mouse with dpi toggles and a nice assortment of buttons to use.
i dont use it for dust tho, partly because it is too cheesy for me and also because i simply cant LOL. we cant rebind keys and just like on a gamepad, people will always be able to artificially increase sensitivity. |

never seen so many AR heavies before I also will be using a lot more sniping fits until aim assist gets turned down. There's no point in getting into close fights when ar's take you down in under 2 sec. Hmm... Maybe I should use laser rifles of tac ar's to stay away from the heat?
trip complex dmodded viziam on an amarr assault with 25% heat build up reduction
can you say exponential damage increase? |

No decisions have been made yet, but we are certainly going to have another look at it. Any news on the dropship camera? No news, but it is something I'm aware of and will be asking about next week. what about the number of positive feedback as well? We're aware of both sides, and we'll be bringing up points from each camp. Same with the aim assist.
Aim assist is so essential, but it should never move the reticule without user input and you can see on the video that it is tracking the enemy player very strongly. 90% of the dust playerbase became hipfire sharpshooters overnight. |

I suggest waiting a month to see if people still have problems with it. As for possible course of action, I (and others: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=108090 ) recommend removing the Uprising 10% damage buff to all weapons that happened.
Since 1.4, there has not been a single competitive player that i have played with who has thought aim assist was fine as is. |

Since 1.4, there has not been a single competitive player that i have played with who has thought aim assist was fine as is. That comment doesn't count if u like only know 2 people. I know a fair number who do think its fine and an ever greater number of casual and new players who outnumber the comptive players who also think its fine
If CCP wants to kill the competitive aspect of their game, rid Dust of the "harsh New Eden"mentality, and ultimately make it a subpar COD clone, then they should keep the auto tracking aim assist.
I can understand CCP needs numbers, but it is not worth selling out for. Building the game for people who cant aim in a genre of gaming that is all about aiming and shooting the other guy doesn't make sense to me.
But then again i despise other FPSs that coddle the incapable player in order to take their money. |
