OMG CCP you completely screwed the pooch on this one!
The new UI changes very attractive. In game graphic improvements also good.
Taking as long to get into a match (and not even the one I selected) as it takes to play the match horrible. Multiple "Scotty" messages.
Whoever had the idea to take "Choice" away from players should be terminated, epic fail!
CCP imagine the outrage if you pulled some BS like this in EVE. I go to my agent to get a distribution mission and instead get sent on a Null Sec security mission. You got to be kidding me!
I am not generally a mean spirited guy but some heads should roll for this. The game is limping along in it's infancy and then you totally upend gameplay in this fashion. Leadership of the Dust 514 DEVs should be hauled in and read the riot act! These changes make me a staunch supporter want to not log in anymore.
I only hope you QUICKLY reverse this BS! |

CCP Nullarbor wrote:Hi All- Just want to write down a few notes about what we changed in 1.4 in relation to joining a battle and explain some of the questions you might have. So in 1.4 alongside a new battle finder we have rewritten the matchmaking system, that is the logic that decides what battle you join and who you are playing with. There are a number of things that we are trying to optimize in this step, for example:
- Find you your preferred selection of game mode
- Reduce the network latency between you and the server
- Match you against similarly skilled players
- Reduce the waiting time it takes to find a battle
- Reduce the number of partially filled battles
- Reduce how often you join a battle already in progress
Allow me to score the results of your efforts "optimize" CCP Nullarbor
#1 Fail, you have taken away my selection and turned it into a ballot option. #2 Below Average, now when finally you enter a game there is no time left to join or form a squad. #3 Fail, now my attempts to train noobs will have them removed from my squad. This really sucks for corp game play. #4 Fail, in fact Epic Fail "Scotty" messages are a poor substitute for game play. #5 Fail, players leave battles they did not select almost immediately, all you have changed is the starting number. #6 Incomplete, because of the huge time delay I've given up on playing today so I was not placed into any in progress games.
This is indeed a sad score for something that looks so great and could play so great. In vernacular of American baseball, "A swing and a miss!" CCP keep your eyes on the ball before you strike out for all of us.

Tried the Matchmaking again today .... tossed first into an in progress game but it was at least the type of game I wanted. Next I got multiple Scotty messages, and then finally a match, ugh! not the kind I wanted. This process continued with me being put into the type match I prefer only about one in seven attempts. So I gave up public contracts and switched to FW.
For the record I really like the option to select the faction I will accept contracts from, good job!
Faction warfare matches went well, I am enjoying the new buildings and maps. Additionally my daughter who is fresh out of the rookie academy was able to deploy with our squad in FW but not in public contracts.
Second day was not quite so horrible as the first, however I would hate to think I am isolated to FW to consistently get the matches I want and a squad of my own choosing. |

I will have a look into this, it should not be possible to be joining the incorrect game modes. Can you maybe try toggling all of your options off, close the options window, reopen the window and pick them again? See if that puts you in the right battle type. Also when you were playing public contracts were you in a squad? If so, were you the squad leader or following a different squad leader into battle? Day 3, I double checked my options when selecting public contracts, today I was not put into anything I did not request!!!!
The DEVs must have been programming their little fingers down to the bone. Did not get a chance to test if a team mate of lower skills would not deploy in public contract matches today, as no noobs were online with us.

I was placed in a match today where it was two against ten, and I was one of the two. We took a good pounding but held on until the MCC blew. They didn't really press their advantage until late realizing they could just overwhelm us with swarm launchers as we battled back their dropship,Hav, and Lav attacks.
In a strange way the challenge fighting on in the face of sure defeat was motivating. Needless to say I risked no expensive dropsuits in this match, lol. |

I was kidda hoping the ass kickings that has been handed out recently was due to more people logging in for consecutive day sp bonuses.
To be honest I've lost more clones this week then I did all last month, kd ratio is going to take a slump.
It's a combination of the new maps, which all seem to favor either up close ambush style slugfests or HAV roams. Neither of which is my preferred way to play. I was skulking around a new map and trying to be low profile to not get scanned as a sniper and the game said it was going to kick me for non-activity... wtf! ... that has never happened to me before, and I have played since Beta.
So yeah i'd like to see the balance returned to matches instead of getting pounded just about every time out of the gate, because it is affecting my desire to log in and play tbh. |

Second day of my boycott ...... screw it! ...... the bonus skill points are a small compensation for the horribly unbalanced matches .... so another day I choose not to play ....... sadly does not sound like anything has been fixed ..... maybe I'll be in a mood to get pub stomped tomorrow, but not today ..... too bad other games don't have the appeal of Dust 514, or that Dust 514 use to have.
This badly broken matchmaking might end up being the cure for my DUST514 addiction, way to go CCP! |
