I have little information about the Intaki Liberation Front. and would not jump to conclusions and call them terrorists. As a Gallentean I see why the ILF seeks to cut ties with the Federation. During the Gallente-Caldari war many things were done on both sides, the Federation made many mistakes. Things that many people were unhappy with. That said, my question is what the Intaki people would gain be getting out of the Federation? Join the Caldari State? Become a prey to the Amarr Empire? There are ways which the Intaki people can maintain its individuality and remain in the Federation. The Intaki people are an Important part of the Federation, the Federation needs to change its approach towards not only the Intaki people but to all members of the Federation if it is to remain united. The Federation must learn from its mistakes and not forget about it, because only through learning we can began the healing process the Federation much need. To my fellows Intakis, I ask you only this, Lets not focus on the differences that drive our peoples apart but rather let us focus on what unite us and make us strong, remembering that by standing together we can achieve greatness. In times like this we do not need to drive a divide between our people but to remain united and work together in order to improve our beloved Federation. |

But to note, there's an entire separate thread and a full post in this thread that explains our beliefs and corrects Aztec's lies. You should go read those before continuing this discussion further.
Again, our goal is to not join the Caldari State or any other empire, just to set up an independent sovereignty over Intaki and her colonies, free from the influence of any empire. And since you seem concerned that we will somehow be targeted by the Amarr Empire, while we appreciate your concern, I'll remind you that no Reclaiming has been done for centuries, and it is unlikely that they will start reclaiming again any time soon. Besides that they have no reason to attack us, especially when they have to go through Gallente territory first.
I do not agree with your statement that we can maintain our individuality and still be a part of the Federation. The problem is that when we Intaki live in the Luminaire and other Federation colonies outside of Placid, we are not Intaki there, we are Gallenteans. A fellow corporation member has explained it better, so I shall quote him:
Not only are we seperated economically and by territory because they left us to ourselves in lowsec at the mercy of pirates and militia, we are also seperated culturally. Slowly, our own Intaki culture is being assimilated into the Gallentean culture, until the point that we have lost all ethnic and cultural identity of ourselves. The Federation might start protecting us again, they might protect us from pirates and revitalize our economy, but they can never change the attitudes of its citizens.
Back when the Caldari-Gallente war was rampant, several Intaki showed support for the Caldari, and were quickly exiled from the Federation. This discrimination was not done by the government only, but by the citizens. Because of those Intaki who wanted to show support for the Caldari and tried to end the entire pointless war, every single Intaki received a bad reputation and ended up being discriminated by the Gallente, we were isolated at a national and cultural level.
That is why I don't want to have Intaki as a part of the Federation, because in the end we would not be Intaki anymore.
Reasoning is the only way we can both understand each other my friend. I am thankful that we can discuss the matter. I a free society like ours, there will always be those who like certain reasoning and are swift to jump to conclusions before analysing certain facts.
I agree with you, the Federation has let it's citizens down, specially during the War. But those were turbulent times. And we must work together to rectify those mistakes for the good of our people. Unfortunately we live in a world where it only takes a spoilt apple to ruin the bunch. Because some Intaki indeed back the Caldari cause most Intaki people were labelled as traitors. We must remember that at that time the Federation was governed by a Ultra-nationalist group. Any views against the Federation were seen as acts of treason. I disagree, I think that the its people should be able to scrutinise the governments attitudes when unhappy with them. It sadness me to see that you do not believe that the Intaki can remain a part of the Federation regardless of the boundaries between our worlds. I believe that what is required is a social and cultural reform of the Federation. rather than a separation between our people.
Just a final word my friend. I am a great believer of the Federation, I believe that every culture that is part of the Federation can maintain its identity even in a world were many cultures are mixed together. Mistakes will always be made and that we should never forget those mistakes because they teach us so many things. They help us become better. I hope that overtime you can see that remaining with the Federation can be a good thing for the Intaki people and perhaps you can lead the Gallenteans and the Intaki people to reconciliation. |

My objective was to rile up support for unity among the Federation. Normally an act of domestic violence would be enough, unfortunately, resources are tied up at the moment. That said, we needed a scapegoat, the ILF does a nice job. It has been a problem for our bureaucratic leaders; two ships with one missile, no? Plus known contact between the ILF and the Intaki Syndicate adds *proof* of terrorist activities. Plus the name even sounds menacing, sounds like some Minmatar militia.
The ILF has actually done some shady things, though, not enough to be actually be terrorists. But the Public need need not know that, aye? ;)
You embarrass the Federation. |
