Pick a weapon he says ... how do you know what light weapon to choose?
Ahh that is where the miracle of modern cloning comes in, and picking up an alias while you test them out.
Chankk Saotome and RedBleach told me back when I first started out on my Logibro path what the key was to figure stuff out. And I'm going to share that little secret with you.
First step, create an alias. (Make an Alt or alternate character GÇô remember your PS login ID can have 3 total. Your main, and two alts.)
Once you've done that you're going to test out the light weapons, so login to your alias/alt and do the following:
With your Alt log in and do the following: Use that ALT's starter 500k SP and buy straight into these skills and nothing else. You're just using this character to test weapon types and then they're going bye-bye:
Weaponry III Light Weapon Ops IV AR Ops I SCAR Ops I Laser Rifle Ops I MD Ops I Shotgun Ops I
Now we build the simulation. Chankk and RedBleach suggested to go for a Militia Gallente Medium Frame (because of the Low Slots), but you're in this for you. If you want to run Caldari suits, Create a Caldari Alt, that will give you access to the 'Starter Suit' that you can play around with and swap weapons into and out of for minimal cost. If that suit isn't what you want to try, then set up an alt with that Racial type (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente or Minmatar) and keep the same equipment/High and Low gear that it comes with. Choose one of the weapons from the skills above and run matches with the 'weapon of choice.'
The purpose of this is to keep you focused on learning the weapons during this little side excursion. If you're trying to be a Logi, put a repper on the suit. Now you're a super-scrub logi. Go die like you're supposed to... a LOT, with each weapon.
Chankk said to get a feel for the weapons. The general improvements as you progress in levels aren't that different from the militia or starting tier so if you can't handle it now you won't be able to later either.
Yes, you're wasting time but this is a good practice before skilling into anything in DUST if you don't want to waste days, or weeks, or even months of SP on unnecessary skill branches. Remember that your MainGÇÖs SP is precious GÇô Do Not Waste It
Found a weapon you like? Pick up some training in that weapon to get access back on your main character. Are you sure that weapon is gonna do it for you? No, seriously, you can't be wasting points. Go back and play more games.
Sure, try stuff out, test ... don't take my word on what the best weapon is ... because it might not be the best for you.
