I have a lot of friends with PS3s
Probably 90% of them downloaded Dust, tried it out, got stomped, and then quit. The only person to actually stick with the game for longer than a day was my roommate, and he quit after 1.2 came around and shotgun scouts (his favorite class) died off with the more fluid gameplay.
With 1.4 we see a few BIG changes, and I don't think enough people realize what kind of an impact this update may make.
The first is matchmaking. Currently, the battle is decided by who has the most experienced players. You could have a squad of excellent players working together, but if the other 10 players on your team are all redline sniping because they're noobs, you lose no matter what. This is also important for new players who leave out of the academy, as they will no longer be thrown into matches with proto players all the time.
The second is the removal of team vision. This means that zerg rushing the red chevrons willl not be an option as you will have to find the enemy yourself, unless someone in your squad happens to be using a scanner. This is HUGE. If you are noticed by one red dot, you only have to worry about that red dot, and not the huge swarm that will be at your position shortly. The biggest advantage is given to the scouts here, who won't be detected by the rest of the red swarm if one lone dot decides to stray off to hunt the scout. The scout will only be visible to the person who saw him, and no one else.
Third, we have the updates to aiming, the slower strafe speed, visual effects, turn speed, removal of 5mph murder taxi's, and other weapon and armor balances to help even further. With more things balanced, players will feel better about choosing to play as a heavy or a scout instead of just an assault character. Both of these classes will be making a huge comeback this update with all of the simple fixes that should help each class be more finely tuned. The other fixes will smooth out some choices, and give players more options of what to use as certain weapons and suits will become more useful. _______________________
I just want my friends to see how amazing this game really is and not bring them into a broken mess. Most of you might only care about new weapons or fixing even more problems, but the DEVs finally spent the time to get the most important things figured out first, which was probably the best decision they've made in a while.
So here's to 1.4, and bringing people back. Even though Dust has been down a rough road, this update finally shows promise for a bright future, and I can't wait for what's to come. |

I'm really looking forward to the matchmaking. It depends on how it works though. |

Yeah... i am intrigue about that too... CCP haven't give much information about it. Having say that... the new Battle Deployment system should fix some of the Matchmaking problems... in theory ... |

I'm sure CCP have the talent too not get it right. They first need too **** up some thing and after 3 patches they will try to fix it.
The matchmaking for example. Lets bet, they will do it wrong. I bet that if you are in a squad full of random who have joined you over the time of a couple matches, that the system will kick you in "squad only games", like full corp squads. Squad is squad right? right? No? Och! And I bet that if you have random noobs in your squad, the system still is taking you as a serious squad and put you against other corp squads. |

I'm somewhat excited for 1.4 but don't expect much, many of us felt the same of 1.2 and look how that turned out.

I am excited, but trying to manage my expectations for fear of being disappointed.

The patch notes for 1.4 are, at the very least, a tantalizing glimmer of hope and redemption. A shining gem that seems to offer all things to all people. The light at the end of the long, dark tunnel of recent monthly updates containing scraps and duct tape.
Let's hope there is real ongoing substance here and not a will-o-wisp of broken dreams, a return to silent devs and crushing screw-ups.
1.4 could be the start of the big corner turn that we ache to see.
New maps, some serious balancing, improving the HUD, a look at murder taxis, better matchmaking, updates to CQC and a better looking front end. All are steps forward and not only that, they are steps that we have asked for repeatedly. These sound good in the patch notes.
I hope future updates will be as strong as the patch notes for 1.4 seem to be.
I'd like to see in-corp trading of stuff, the ability to sell your crappy stuff back to the Marketplace, and even buying and selling stuff between players. Even an integrated economy with EVE.
It would be so great to trade stuff between corp mates as an intermediate step to a running economy.
I'm dying to get full racial armors, new vehicles and new weapons. And a plethora of new maps.
I'd love to see my DUST actions having some sort of effect on EVE, or at least some sort of positive value to EVE players.
Scouts need some help and so do dropships. Vehicles need a look. Maybe they will get something soon?
Like a jilted lover, I live in tense apprehension, wanting to trust, wanting to love again. I want to feel needed. I want to stop crying quietly at night, feeling used and abandoned.
I want to awake smiling each morning with the feeling I didn't catch syphilis the night before.
I yearn to be proud to tell my friends that I've found a truly great gaming experience with a responsive dev team, meaningful updates and a happy community. I'm tired of being thought a fool or eccentric by my friends for continuing to stick with DUST.
I'd pay to play such a game.
Please, oh please, let there be light.

This is super high on my wish list. One of my corp mates loves sniping and has speced far into it. I have found some officer sniper rifles and won 50 advanced rifles and will never use either. I can wait to sell my crappy stuff and wait to barter with the community at large, but don't want to wait to give items to my corp mates. |

I think I'l lgive it a go again after 1.4.
My ADV CalLogi fitting works again now I've accrued some SP after the CPU nerf (granted I can't run uplinks and flux anymore but never mind) and the changes do seem to address some of the turn offs I had as a casual player.
But having said all that I cannot see me playing at all after 17th September for a very long time

My corp and i moved on from DUST we are waiting for GTA V, & GTA Online to launch. 1.4 is still not enough, we need all suites, vehicles and weapons and open world maps along 64 players. Then we will come back maybe.
I don't see any of that stuff happening so we will be playing GTA Online. |

I like your list, and I would like to add PVE, as I know a lot of my friends would like PVE over suits and vehicle. |
