Imagine we had a method to deal with those people who sit atop towers raining sniper rounds and forge rounds on our heads with no means of stopping them unless we actually have someone on our team willing to risk a fully specced and built dropship against the proto assault forge gun camping the field from up there.
Imagine if you were able to, at certain times during the battle, use a Null cannon to clear the top of one of those towers.
Imagine if 1 in every 10 Null cannon missiles was allowed to be fired like a mortar round and basically "mini-OB" a small area within the main area of the map?
Imagine they regulated it so that only one null cannon can be assigned at a time for firing per team, so a team with one objective on the 5 point map could use that null missile to, instead of shooting at the MCC, make every 10th missile fire a round at the defenders to try to clear a way into another objective to help prevent redlines.
Imagine if they regulated it further so that if the enemy only has a single objective, you cannot use a null cannon as a mortar to as a further preventative to redlines.
Imagine that they prevented kills via Null Cannon from counting towards your WP and kill count in order to prevent there from being a mad scramble to lock in the first available cannon for use as a mortar and having people camp there for first dibs on more easy kills every 10 times the cannon goes off.
Imagine the rage expressed by people QQing over not getting points or recognition on the killboard or killfeed for those null cannon kills.
Imagine the rage of the people, who have taken the "shooting from the tower" approach to such an extreme that the forums have been raging over it for weeks, after their super safe sniping hole is actually no longer impregnable to all but the hardiest of dropships.

Null cannons are the things you hack when you take an objective. The MCC is what the null cannons are firing at. Diverting one in every 10 shots from a single cannon won't make a huge impact on the MCC health bars, but in a tight game it might tip the tables. However, if a group of people are camping a tower causing havoc for your entire team, then it might be worth diverting a single missile in order to clear their nest so you can operate in safety.
Basically there should be a cheap counter for cheap tactics. Nobody gets points, and it may be detrimental to your team in a tight game, but it WILL clear a tower for you. |
