I recently spec'd into repair tools to use with my commando suit and found that when I'm on the front line sticking to a glob of blues it's difficult to choose the one guy in the crowd who lost most of his armor.
Would it be possible to have the repair tool auto-lock on the person with the most damage if you're in a crowd? This way medics can dish out appropriate healing without having to get up on the damaged guy to single him out. |

Great suggestion, OP. It would make repairing your fellow mercs a lot easier. |

Yeah, more often than not I'm accidentally locking onto someone running in between me and the guy I'm trying to heal.
Like, it would work pretty much the same as it does now, but if there are a few people bunched up it will target the person with the lowest health.

I am not at all in favor of this. Having a repair tool that automatically focuses on the most damaged player would remove the need for the user to actually aim/think. People who are using rep tools need to constantly think (when facing a large group) who should I be repping and who will provide the most help to the team once at full health. Making the targeting automatic would eliminate this rather fun aspect of the game.
Additionally the changes you are proposing might run into issues where the repair tool will only lock onto a damaged turret or vehicle (even one that is not in use) since it is more damaged than the player the logi actually wants to repair. |

You'd still have to aim with it... like it wouldn't lock on to someone behind you. And you should be trying to keep everyone's health up as best as you can even if you're not getting WP constantly... otherwise you're a jerk medic.
And it should only apply to infantry, which could work because they do differentiate between how much hp they heal for infantry and vehicles. |

OP. 1st off. You are a LOT better (If playing as a commando) With the two L weapons and a REPAIR NANO-HIVE. This way you can repair YOURSELF and others while still getting a decent amount of ammo resupply.
BUT moving back to main issue. I think the best way to go would be WHILE YOU ARE REPAIRING SOMEONE: if you press Melee, the repair tool will change targets. (Or any button, i just chose melee because , i dont know...it can be L3 maybe? SELECT BUTTON.....?) |

Yeah, I know I'd be better off with the rep hives, but I'm a selfless healer... I'll usually be the meat-shield while repping so the person can attempt an escape. Plus I decided on a rep tool commando over hives commando what with all of the logis and assaults running hives.
And I would be content with there being a button tied to changing the lock-on. It would be awesome to be able to have the rep tool locked onto someone, and as you're healing them you turn around and hit the button to change the lock onto someone else. |

1st- You would be surprised how LITTLE people give nanos. When i play as a Forge gunner i just cant BELIVE i have to actually BEG for ammo sinec people just use them to reload their OWN Mass drivers XD The Rep Nanohive IMO is a better option, you give and receive amo, you heal and give ammo. You CANNOT be a meat shield since Commandos are squishy. My Advanced Amarr assault packs 690 HP and thats 90 more than my commando. Have More stamina, shield regen and speed. But if thats your game style Ok. I just feel taht with 2 Light weapons you are better off asan OFFENSIVE unit than a defensive one, since Logis can ''MEAT SHIELD'' A LOT better, while moving faster and having more equipment.
2- While CCP reads this and figures out what to do, You might consider using one of them Repair tools that heal 2 objectives at once. XD |

I'm aware at how often people drop hives, it's enough to dissuade me from speccing into them.
And I'm running adv laser and basic MD, so I'm more of a support commando in terms of my offensive capabilities. I usually zap anyone I see to drain their shields for other people to take the kill, unless they're in close quarters or have really low armor, then I MD them.
I'm only spec'd to adv rep tools right now, but I'm definitely going proto in them.
Anyway, even with the multiple targeting rep tools doesn't it just lock on to whomever you're pointing at? The auto-lock onto damaged people with a multi rep tool would make being a medic even more fun because I'd be keeping everyone alive as much as possible while softening people up with my 2 light weapons. |

Again. Its ok its YOUR play style.I usually use commandos with Scrambler Rifles and Mass drivers,or as a long ranged support, with sniper rifle and Swarm launchers. But different people have different play styles i understand , i was trying to help thats all.
I understand WE NEED this change to be made, a button to change targets would be great. I was just saying in the meanwhile.... XD The Repair tools that target multiple damaged units might help you a lot XD |

Nonono, I wasn't being argumentative, just putting it out there that that's a valid way to commando, I do well enough, but like you say it's MY play style. I tried the scram rifle/MD combo and wasn't too good with the scram rifle.
And now that I think about it, changing targets with the multi rep tool seems kind of cumbersome.... Maybe if there was a proficiency skill for the rep tool to increase the number of people you can be repping. It would only apply to whatever rep tool does the multiple people... it's the proto one right? |
