Exmaple Core wrote:Are you saying changing ppls classes and not leting them spec out of it does not matter? Cuz we cant enjoy the game if we dont have say in how we play. That would be like me telling you what to post on your reply to this thread and having no abliity to change it. Would you enjoy posting on the forums if i made you look like an idiot every time you said something? cuz thats how we feel on the battlefeild when our classes get changed
I am not trying to jump into this thread, but i just want to point out that this is actually a pretty good analogy for the point Exmaple is trying to get across. You can see in other posts that I am against respecs, but this particular situation is different. If numbers are changed/rebalanced but the core functionality of a weapon is changed, then it is the same weapon, regardless of how good it is. That doesnt get a respec. In the case of 1.5, the entire system is being rebuilt from the ground up and it is more than just a rebalance, tanks will not be the same as we know them now. I dont want to say we are entitled to a respec, because we arent, but depending on the changes we see, it would be a good idea to allow reallocation of sp for relevant skills as after 1.5 the tank we specced into might not be the same thing.
Imagine if the duvolle assault rifle was suddenly changed to a sidearm, had its stats rebalanced to be in line with the other sidearms and you never got a respec for it...you would be pissed. You specced into ARs as a primary weapon, for that intended use, not as some sidearm.... |

All SP that was used to skill into Flaylocks, MD, Caldari Logi, and Melee will be "Locked"
This is coming from someone who wouldn't change one thing in my skill tree. That is all I would ask if this was to be done. If this doesn't seem fair then your intentions for this respec are not pure.
ah, **** it....im gettin into this thread.
jimbo, funny post, yet there is truth there. Ever since day 1 i have specced into tanks and run militia/dren/skinweaves as infantry, so i know just how ****** MDs, cores, duvolles, etc. can be. BELIEVE ME i have wanted to spec into them (yay alts) but because i understand that balancing bites the FOTM users in the long run, I have maintained a realistic and SMART allocation of my sp into what i like to play instead of what i think kills the best. Because of this i get to enjoy knowing my sp is safe from the side effects of a ruined character who has sp jumbled into a bunch of subpar things.
I play what i like and because i wasnt fickle with my sp my char does what i want it to do and does it WELL |

To try a new role
To make the right decision
To spec into the next FoTM
Anti-respect peoples reasons to not give us respecs : We will spec into the FoTM
There will probably be a rise in people using protogear
They already have the right build they want
They already got a respec in uprising(so they don't want to be stomped by new protogear)
The main thing I hear from anti-respec people is that "there shouldn't be a respec because people are just gonna spec into the next FoTM". I say let them have their respecs, if they spec into the FoTM again then they are SOL , THEN there shouldn't be any more respecs. The only thing anti-respec people hear when someone mentions a respc is "I wanna spec into the FoTM". Try looking at this respec war from a different point of view then you will see the logic behind both sides We just did that. Ok so we do it ONE MORE TIME. Then two months down the road, CCP adds caldari/mini heavy/scout. MOAR RESPECTS! So when does it end? I say let them make their changes, get all the content in, then we can have one FINAL respec. Until then why bother with respec threads?
that is different. Just like when we get amarr and minny tanks we dont get a respec. This isnt about content adding, it is about getting an sp refund for having the things we specced into being changed into something completely different.
Again, if tanks dont change THAT much, which CCP said it will, then no respec for 1.5 |

Changing how vehicles work might be more comprehensive, but it's no different than changing the behaviour of flaylocks, Tacs, or CalLogis. At the end of the day, the content is still the same content.
You skilled into vehicles, so you're keeping vehicles. All you're trying to do is squeeze something you want out of CCP. Your arguments are all proxies for this, not the real reason for receiving this. Looks like someone already has their perfect build. Yup, and even if it changes drastically, it's still going to be the perfect build. That's because I picked the playstyle I wanted, rather than the stats I wanted. If people don't want tanks anymore, despite the fact that they're still going to be tanks, then it's clear they didn't pick the playstyle they wanted. It's their own fault, they shouldn't be rewarded for it.
Honestly, you are absolutely right in that post. This is the reason i have stayed in tanks through nerf after nerf |

That's exactly one of the points I'm making , you have the build you want and therefore you are saying "No respecs because I have the build I wanted" that's what the majority of anti-respec people say its not like we are all the same , people make different choices and you made a choice that you were happy with. As for vehicles you can utilize those way more than other things if you goof up on them.

I play what i like and because i wasnt fickle with my sp my char does what i want it to do and does it exceptionally well Lucky you ... I specced the flaylock on day one because I liked the way it looked on the video and it worked great with my Swarms (a little too great) so it became a FotM and got nerfed ... since that nerf it simply doesn't register damage if I hit someone square in the chest or right between their feet, so I've got well over a million sp invested in flaylock but I run with a skill free Toxin SMG now for the fitting requirements and I've got it up to level 3 or 4 operation now. Not saying I want a respec per se (see my above post for this opinion) I'm just saying lucky you that what you skilled in still works ! and hopefully hit detection will render my points useful again since I've heard other people say it's still useable.
sounds rough, im minny all the way so i got them for that and for the simple idea of having rocket pistols. Do i dislike the huge nerf? ya
do i still use em? hell ya |

I think we may have a fire lit under them and I want to say December for a full line up. I am not being an a#$ but how long of a notice do we need for mercs to prepare. If they were to come out in Dec. would a months notice give us enough time to save for the skill? If a five week notice was given would we need a refund?
But that's the problem we don't know when or even a timeframe of when they will come out and even if they did come out there shouldn't be a full respec for every time something new comes out. This is why dust needs a Test server like Eve.
the original biannual update roadmap was scrapped to make way for the monthly plan due to popular DEMAND. crying might be a more appropriate word here |
