Don't know if this has been reported, but it's annoying. If you post a message in squad chat in the merc quarters around the time a battle launches, it will often post the message in team chat in the war barge. This is frustrating as squad members will not usually read team chat, so they miss out on my amazing insights. I know I can avoid this by not posting a message when it says 'searching for battle', but if I don't post my message then I lose it altogether, and there may not be the time in the war barge to retype it.
There is a simple fix: make chat in the warbarge default to squad for everyone in a squad. |

I agree that defaulting to team chat is probably an intended 'feature', probably supposed to encourage teamwork with random blues. But I don't think taking a message you started typing in squad and dumping it in team can be intended.
For this to be a feature, there would have to be some upside to this. Why would anyone want to lose their message like that? Must be an unintended side effect, i.e. a bug.
Luckily CCP can squash the bug and keep the feature by (1) leaving those currently typing messages in squad chat and (2) defaulting everyone else to team chat. |

Oh nothing important, sometimes I can't use my mic so I might type my squad a comment about something noteworthy/amusing that happened in the last game, that sort of thing. It takes ages to type anything with the software keyboard, so it's annoying to lose it, that's all.
People do use text chat for a variety of reasons (mic is charging/you have people round that you have to talk to/there's a mixture of languages in squad/the squad leader wants specializations written down rather than a clusterkitten on mic/etc). I agree it's not a very high priority, but it would be a very simple fix - just a line of code to say don't put people in team chat if they're typing. |
