Hi I would like to know how this new matchmaking system will work. I find that Matchmaking in it's actual state is a serious game breaker, especially for new, casual or low SP players.
Will players for example be grouped up together like this: 1mil - 5mil SP 6mil - 10mil SP 11mil - 15mil SP 16mil - 20mil SP 21mil - 25mil SP
So basically a 8mil SP player should NEVER go up against an 15mil SP player.
Will players that go solo find themselves in teams where everyone joins solo like in CoD Mercenaries mode and then are all part of the same team without squads
Does anyone know how it will actually work |

Yes this would be interesting BUT K/D and Win/Loss ratio is a fail stat. eg you are a sniper and have a 20-1kdr or you have a low win/loss cause your team sucks compared to you, so i seriously doubt K/D and Win/Loss should seriously be taken into consideration just for this reason. |

Because I was playing with this guy and it was his first day playing and everybody was proto stomping to the point where I had to play bullet monkey just that he'd be able to enjoy the game. 100 kills is a fail and nothing in academy, a decent play should get at least 10-15 kills which would boil down to 10 or 7 games of Academy then you're Protobear food :D |

ZDub 303 wrote:So what happens in 5 months when people are around 60 million SP? There's gonna be so few people in each bracket at anyone time that you may never see battles.
It's gonna be much much deeper than just SP bracketing. Also SP does not = skill, period. I've met plenty of people who have a lot of SP and are terrible at FPS games and vice versa. Yes but the importance of SP is massive due to the reason it unlocks all that nice proto gear which compared to militia or standard gear is a world of difference
You can look at it as being almost equal SP as being equally geared to fight someone on your own level therefore the difference is minimal. It would only depend on what each player spent their SP on, yet if SP is almost equal then the chances of a fair game based upon SP can also be equal. Imagine 2 people with the same SP and the same gear, it boils down to skill and not skill points |

I'm sure they take that into account and try to separate people with less than 10 mil with people greater than 10 mil.
So let me see now, for example I have 2.5mil Sp and the other guy has 9.5mil Sp, i pawn him with an infantry weapon , then the other guy respawns with a nice tank and i don't have the sp to invest in AV to take down such a strong tank, so I get pawned for the entire game. Yep great idea ZDub That really sounds like balance to me, you must have a great matchmaking system in mind |

Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:There are a lot of flaws with SP based matchmaking.
Particularly in the early brackets, what if you made a bad investment? Not only do you lose the benefits of the properly invested SP, you're suddenly facing a lot of people who did the right thing with their SP and you'll get stomped. I imagine this would be particularly prevalent in the 5-10 million SP bracket.
In the higher SP brackets, suddenly isk becomes a huge factor as well. Some people can't afford to run proto all the time, and they'll be forced against people who can - for some, this would be even worse than the current pubstomping that's happening.
What happens when you squad with people? Are they dragged into the highest bracket that a squad member is eligible for? Then the others get stomped, eliminating opportunities for vets to teach newbies, and hell, generally a lot of squadding in some corps. If it's anything other than the highest tier you end up with higher tiered people in with the lower tiered people, which is evidently what the matchmaking is trying to avoid in the first place.
I think a better way of matchmaking would be to attempt to distribute SP and squads evenly - for example, if there were two squads in a match, prevent them from being both on the same team and put them on opposite teams instead. For the SP part, evenly distribute high and low SP players between the teams.
That which I highlighted I liked cause it seems constructive and fair :) |

O'Rly O,O In that case, I guess it's time for CCP to step forwards and tell us, especially since we are a few days away from the 1.4 release. Yet we still know nothing |
